Pieces of ‘fireball’ meteor that exploded over Mississippi are being found, NASA says

Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says

The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.

“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”

And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.

“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

Congratulations to you, too.

A few more minutes of steaming the cabbage, and then I’ll take a shower. One of my choir-ladies sent me a photo from a Pentecost event a few years ago. I’m going to fit in that red dress again by next Pentecost!

Thanks!

I believe you will fit into that red dress! You’ll do it because you want to!

And I’ll be your peanut gallery! ;o]

I will! Also the blue one with the floral pattern and the black one with white dots, though not for Pentecost.

You’ll make it into all of them! Just — not at the same time. ;o]

I realized this morning, while I was in the shower, (tepid, at best, today) that if I have to argue with myself about going somewhere, it means I need to stay home.

There is a cute skirt in the National catalog, and also a cute jacket, but I can get one or the other. They probably won’t have either in my size by next payday. So I’ll see about the skirt. I hope the shipping isn’t out of sight.

Shipping often keeps me from buying something, which actually isn’t bad.

Yep. If the shipping is close to, equal to or more than the cost of the item, it’s a no-sale for me. The skirt was on sale and the shipping wasn’t bad, so between the two, it was the cost of the item before it went on sale. I can live with that.

But that’s the end of the shopping for me! At least, for this payday.

I bought a frozen pizza a while back (several weeks) and when I got it home, I realized the burner plates may not like the heat from the oven. They have some ugly green stuff on them and I don’t know what it is.

Anyway, I gave the pizza to Mona and asked her for one slice. It was fairly good, for a Walmart brand! I was thinking about it later and wondered if I could have just taken the burners off the stove while the pizza was cooking. Next time. ;o]

Thanks!

Don’t know how long it will last, but it’s OK...I’ll take four in a row! My longest streak was 19, but I’m happy with whatever I get, even if it’s X/6. I’ll just try again the next day.
