Some posters in FR seem to get upset with me when I point out the shortcomings of Truth Social. I get accused of being a troll or someone will say they have been accessing the platform in full body bliss for at least 24 hours now and that I need to get a life or learn to be patient or if that doesn't work they will call all kinds of names.
We correctly complain about the shortcomings of the established "social media" platforms but have little concern for those that should give voice to conservatives. Such is the mission of Truth Social, to bring twitter and facebook to it's knees.
It has been more than a month since Truth Social made it's soft launch. It is impossible to know exactly how many users have been granted access but it seems reasonable to say about 500,000 It also seems reasonable to to estimate the number waiting in the wings to gain access at another 1,000,000 To use myself as an example, I registered my account on Feb 21, was given a place in a waitlist at #312,624 and had my phone number verified on 2/28/22 I still wait in the line along with my wife who registered a few days after me and has a waitlist number approx 1,200,000
Of the official information coming out from the company that runs Truth Social, we were informed in February that around March 21, access would open up to Android users and by the end of March the "soft launch" status would be revised to a general useage.
Truth Social maintains a presence on the WWW. There is really no information there, no FAQs, no Blogs and no news releases. It is reasonable to speculate that the persons running Truth Social are not, as individual human beings, "social" as most would identify the word with. My guess is they are locked inside a cave in at a remote location on the North Slope in Alaska, far from access to the internet.
There are quite a number of facebook sites that are set up to discuss Truth Social in all it's fascinating details. A surprising number of them are Pro-Trump and not there to bash TS. Think about it, why is there a need to go to facebook to find out what is going on at Truth Social?
I think that if there is one question that those who are disappointed with the way TS has been handled is would be "What in the h*ll is wrong with Truth Social?"
And that is the question.
I was impressed when it was announced that Truth Social was coming out. I have been #185,156 on the waiting list for weeks.
I was really looking forward to an alternative to Facebook and twitter. We are not there yet. I got off Facebook because it was getting creepy. Never found a practical use for twitter, but I keep it around.
I keep getting emails asking me to join Truth Social, but then I have to make a donation. I was NOT told that when I joined Facebook or twitter.
I plan to use Truth Social extensively when it becomes available to give it a fair shake.
In the meantime we have several alternate sources for social media like GTTR, Gab, Parler, Revolver, etc.
I agree with you overall.
It might seem odd for me to say this but we have to find another way, new or old or a combination of the two, to communicate. 50 years ago there was no on-line chit chat, 100 years ago no TV and yet the word got out there somehow.
How many users did Twitter have on day 1? How many on day 30? How about Facebook?
People whining about this have no clue how anything works. Going from zero to a million overnight is a recipe for failure. I’m fine with the slow and steady rollout and very happy that they are not allowing bots where people can buy “followers” to make themselves seem more relevant.
I suspect a fair number of those poo-pooing Truth Social are trying to keep people away. I’m in as of this morning and am perfectly content. It will get better over time and functionality will be added. Feel free to stay away if you so desire.
Trump and/or his team should be embarrassed with this junk. I signed up on 2/23 and still cannot get my email validated. I tried again last week with a different email and still have not received the validation email. I love Trump, was looking forward to this, but as with many of his appointments while in office, his choice of Devin Nunes was a disaster. It was a reward for his steadfast support, but the app and site right now are a joke. They’ll either need to get it running efficiently soon, or he’ll have a line of political opponents knocking him for this failure.
The whole hot mess is a mystery.
Truth Social is run by a company called TMTG (Trump Media) and through a merger with a public company (DWAC) they intend to take it public, the plan for this is in the summer. The estimated value I think is over a billion dollars.
So we are not talking about a few thousand dollars or a start up with a low budget. Nor are will taking about an internet chit chat app. Regardless of the iOS beta testing or lack of an Android app, this company should be in the financial spotlight with much on the line in the very near future. The problems with TS need to go away yesterday.
If DWAC stock tanks because of TS being run by children, President Trumps reputation will get crushed in total.

My point is this is not a fooling around internet thing rather it is real money thing.
The only thing I can figure is that Trump is the “big idea” guy (including his time building the Trump brand into what it was at the peak), and he had some real kick a$$ managers that he knew for decades that had proven they could be trusted to deliver who actually did all the heavy lifting. That obviously includes his kids, but likely many other experienced people.
He doesn’t have that now, as he’s operating in an entirely different world from NY Real Estate. Instead, he has to rely on people he hasn’t known for decades that SAY they can deliver, and rarely do (Devin, looking at you, bud. You’re CEO. Get this fixed, and get it fixed yesterday or it’s pretty much game over).
No other real explanation I can think of. But it’s sure been a hot mess. I also tried to sign-up early on and have already pretty much given up. Didn’t get confirmation emails for days. When I did, they didn’t work. No web App. No Android app. And MOST importantly - no Trump. Everything else aside, that last one is unfathomable. How can Trump not be posting? SERIOUSLY?! And that one is something he himself can easily fix, but hasn’t. Hmmmmmm.

While there has been plenty of criticism by the main stream media, they haven’t fired the kill shot...yet. I think that is waiting for mid-summer when all this dysfunction hits the fan.
Imagine DWAC losing half it’s value overnight. And as Trump himself might say “stupid people running things and you all think it’s about alternative social media”.

amen. his constant posts pointing out any flaws is really pathetic. Conservatives have so few options and TS is flooded with interest to get on. People that come here to complain really come across as agenda driven, and not a good agenda at all.
you are going to hear terrible, awful, no good downright bad things about Trump ALWAYS. Why are you even listening to any of them? Why is their opinion ranking anywhere under 10,000 for you to abide by?? TS is the start of an incredible opportunity for us to sever ourselves from liberal media and tech. You should be thankful not critical.

Millions upon millions are trying to get on and it’s not even rolled out. Why do you work so hard to disparage the site? What’s up with that? Oh ok. I work in a blue state (live in a red one), my company has about 100 employees. I was referring to the chatter from my co-workers. Everyone knows I’m a Trump supporter so I get to hear it all day long. Sorry I was not clear on that.
And not that I care but just to clear the air, I’m about as Republican as it gets, been seated on my county Republican Committee (an elected position) two terms total 8 years. You calling me names because I have the nerve to point out a real PR problem simmering just below the surface is actually quite silly. Again this was totally avoidable and unnecessary and could still be salvaged but time is running out.
They should have developed it and then announced it.
Not announce it and then say, Ok, how do we do this?
