With Opening Day in the Bronx less than three weeks away, the Yankees are no closer to knowing if they will have their full squad available. The private-sector vaccine mandate that has kept Nets star Kyrie Irving sidelined from games in Brooklyn could stop unvaccinated Yankees and Mets from playing in home games. Tuesday, Mayor Adams said professional athletes would have to wait their turn in the process of emerging from COVID restrictions.
The ticking clock is starting to worry Yankees manager Aaron Boone.
“I mean, a little bit now but we’ll handle that behind the scenes‚” Boone said after a spring training loss in Dunedin. “And it’ll be what it is.”
The Yankees had two players who had not been vaccinated as of last week, according to a source.

All private-sector workers in New York City must show proof that they have been vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the mandate.
“In New York no matter what you do, this is 8.8 million people and 30 million opinions, so you’re never going to satisfy New Yorkers,” said Adams. “You must go with the logic, your heart and the science.”
The Yankees would also face a problem with travel to Canada, which requires travelers to be fully vaccinated to enter the country right now. The Yankees have 10 regular season games scheduled in Toronto.

Howsabout politics just stay out of sports?
What will their season ticket holders and box holders think of that?
This guy is a little tyrant. How dumb is NYC?
I know of a nice little field in Iowa that’d be nice.
Little early this time of year but it’ll warm up soon.
Don’t baseball teams make most of their revenue from TV?
Who would want to watch the Yankees with their best players not playing?
Lol! I can’t get enough of this guy.
This is a litmus test that says whether someone has ever worked in the private sector or not.
Let the team/league decide. It is NOT a government decision.
Well, you did it New York. You picked a new mayor who is just as stupid as the last one.
Hey P.O.E., haven't seen you in a while. Anyways, politics in sports has kept me away from sports. As for this article, how many people thought Adams was going to be a decent mayor? Take one look. Listen to him talk a little. Read the (D) next to his name and it becomes abundantly clear that he is an other low-IQ's, unqualified POS that has lived off of tax dollars all his life. New York City got what the voted for. They can be happy never to see me visit again.
Exactly. If New York City is too dangerous to play in, it's time to relocate elsewhere until it's safe.
Why the hell is the government mandating a vaccine that doesn’t prevent Covid...and with so may breakthroughs...what the hell is the damn point...98% survival rate has NOT changed since the beginning.
Who are you to ask questions? Just do what your are told!
I think he still has a way to go to be as bad as his predecessor.
Yes. He doesn’t make the ridiculous statements that DiBlahdiblah did. But he’s still as dumb as a stump and as authoritarian.
The Yankees and Mets should threaten to permanently move out of NY. The Blue Jays should move out of Canada right now and stay in Buffalo.
In fairness, NYC could call their bluff. Part of their value is being in NYC. Cohen and the Steinbrenners aren't going anywhere.
Ugh. Apparently, MLB is going to use a zombie runner in extra innings again this year:
Why not just put the ball on a tee?
So many stupid things are just ruining major league baseball.
