Took the first step to cutting the cable cord. Currently have Cox and they were charging $130 for three TVs with basic channels. Switching to YouTube TV at $65 for three TVs. Not crazy about their politics but Cox isn't much better with their Hug project for illegal aliens and those they left behind.
YouTube TV has the closest lineup to what we're used to with cable although I'm looking at adding frndly TV for a few bucks a month to get the History channel.
I'm planning on keeping Cox internet but we have a new fiber optic provider coming into our neighborhood with plans to bring fiber to the house.
What I really like about it is I can either delete or move channels that I don't like, watch etc. to the bottom of the Live TV directory. Rather than delete them, I moved CNN, MSNBC, Spanish speaking channels to the end of the list.
I dumped TV in 1997. I never had cable. But since I got Amazon Prime a few years ago, and I have a smart TV, I now stream. Heck, for those that like sports, they even offer that now. I”m not interested, though, or I would never have been able to dump TV.

I am using my kids’ netflix and hulu accounts as well. Also, Youtube now has actual movies and most of them are free (with ads). All of it streamed and I’m not paying for any of it. Even the Amazon Prime video is something I discovered AFTER I became a prime member.
There is also an amazing amount of content to get on YouTube, Rumble and other internet sites.
I've been getting into "film noir" movies from the 1940s and 1950s. As well as documentaries that are all over the internet.
You will not miss cable at all. I guarantee it.
We also have Hulu. Other than that, nothing.
The Colonel’s Wife and I did 7 years ago, but we got a digital antenna and Hulu Netflix/Disney. Digital works well. Paid $700 for antenna and installation, but nothing since, and the streaming services come to about $40/Mo.
Put your router behind a VPN and check out bmovies.co, tubitv.com, livenewsnow.com, crack.stream2watch.sx.
Do some research on software called KODI
I cut out television as a Y2K resolution. A lot of that reclaimed time was given back over to the internet, I’m sad to report. But TV programming and discussion of it is so pervasive, that I find it impossible to ultimately escape from its influence.
FR, for example, talks about various programming constantly. My favorite talk radio programs reference television incessantly (and music, sports, and movies, too).
But congratulations! I hope the money and time you reclaim lead to greater peace-of-mind and new-found spending flexibility!
You can cut out those adverts by using the Vanced app for YT.
Hurawatch is also good.
Its been over 5 years since I cut the chord. There is plenty of free stuff on YouTube and Rumble. I do lots of reading too. I will never go back to spending big on Cable TV.
Occasionally I will sign up for a few months for Netflix. And I may try Amazon Prime too briefly.
For my computer, I watch youtube with my avast browser. It kills commercials. Unfortunately, I’ve never looked into loading after market apps onto my smart TV.
Cut the cord six years ago. I do not watch tv much. Besides I’ve not mastered watching more than one channel at one time. Have not paid one cent for tv for six years and I’m satisfied
Prime was better when its more interesting content wasn’t turned into pay-for channels.
I just got rid of Comcast Cable. They were charging me $100/mo. for internet and basic TV. I am now using T-Mobile 5G internet for $50/mo. Combined with my Roku TV ($258) and a antenna for over the air local TV I have thousands of free movies and TV shows to choose from. The T-Mobile service just requires a router. I don’t have a ton of wires to mess with. Three free channels, Pluto, Tubi, and Peacock have more programming than I’ll ever need.
Anything you wish to find to watch, you can find it on the Internet.
