Alec Baldwin has said any suggestion that he is not complying with a search warrant for his phone is a “lie” and feels the only way the death of Halyna Hutchins can be honoured is to “find out the truth”.
Authorities in the US issued a warrant in December for the actor’s mobile phone to be seized and searched, as part of the ongoing investigation into the death of Hutchins.
It is believed there may be evidence on the phone relevant to the incident in which a prop gun went off, fatally injuring the 42-year-old cinematographer on the Rust film set in New Mexico.
Baldwin, 63, discussed the search warrant in a video he shared to Instagram, where he first speaks of his joy at being reunited with a sentimental packet of Splenda sweetener given to him by a female fan.
He then says: “Any suggestion that I am not complying with requests or orders or demands or search warrants about my phone, that’s bulls###, that’s a lie.
“This is a process where one state makes the request of another state. Someone from another state can’t come to you and say, ‘Give me your phone, give me this, give me that’. They can’t do that. They’ve got to go through the state you live in.
“And it’s a process that takes time and they have to specify what exactly they want.
“They can’t just go through your phone and take your photos or your love letters to your wife or what have you, I really don’t know.
“But of course, we are 1,000% going to comply with all that, we’re perfectly fine with that.”

That could be...but kinda eliminates a motive requiring TOTAL silence. I have no doubt...he is a pig. I’m sure he has a pre-nup. It might specify “affair”...

The only thought running through his mind is how to keep his idiot fans feeling sorry for him so they keep renting his crap.
There was a meme right when it happened that said there was an exchange like the director saying cut or reshoot and Baldwin jokingly pointed the gun at her and said something like I aught to just shoot the both of you, and blamo, the gun had a bullet in it and worked perfectly.
Flippant careless comments and actions but manslaughter just the same.

I tend to agree with you but this sounds to me like he has spoken to his lawyer(s) and he is parroting what they’ve told him. Sounds to me like he is stalling big time. Why then, all this charade if he want the truth to come out? Does he (allegedly) have someone cleaning out his phone?
It's no different than when the Rittenhouse prosecutor tried to imply something when Rittenhouse exercised his fifth amendment rights.
That said, it's not a good look for Baldwin. The difference is that Rittenhouse's case was recorded from many different angles, and the only question was state of mind.

If Alec was smart, he is not, the phone would have been destroyed, then “lost” the second they asked for it.
Phone? What phone? Oh, you mean the phone I lost? I have no idea where it could be. If I knew, it wouldn’t be “lost”.

what is the intent and nature of the search warrant?
does/can it specifically allow searching for messages to/from or referring to the deceased DP?
this has the external appearance of a train wreck in slow motion.
if there is nothing on the phone (eg, several grocery lists from the spouse, love letters to the spouse, photos of the spouse, etc— or even love letters to an uninvolved 3rd party), then it seems as if the advantages of turning in the phone outweigh the disadvantages in the court of public opinion (which is important if anything goes to trial).
if there is something on the phone (eg love letters to the DP, or extortion demands from the DP, etc) then dragging one’s feet might be the best option for someone in baldwin’s shoes.
i’m presuming in the above that baldwin is innocent.
