ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC/WKRC/CNN Newsource) - There was an angry protest outside of one of America's most respected medical institutions on Monday.
The world famous Mayo Clinic made good on a threat to fire employees who refused COVID vaccinations on January 3. That number reached a reported 700 employees, according to CBS Minnesota. That makes up about 1% of Mayo's 73,000 workforce.
Between chanting, honking and marching, protesters outside of Mayo Clinic made their message clear. The hospital's deadline for its employees to get vaccinated -- or terminated -- prompted dozens to speak out.
Some now-former employees joined in after their last day on the job. Others were still hospital employees who received exemption.
"As a nurse, my medical exemption was denied my first round and was approved, my appeal was approved," said Kari Wendt. "So I was very close to being in those shoes of being fired today."
Also in the group were people not associated with pandemic front line workers but in support of those out of a job.
"I'm not a health worker, I'm a veteran," said Pat Smith. "But what's happening to health workers, a lot of first responders and military, is unconstitutional." But still, there was pushback from the other side as protesters pressed on.
Overall, Mayo Clinic says its vaccination mandate has been a success. The hospital says 93% of its employees are now vaccinated. Those released Tuesday can return to Mayo Clinic for future job openings if they get vaccinated.
Against the law, but the pols don’t care.
They just forfeited the right to turn anyone away due to staffing shortages, or complain in any way about staffing. Apparently they are so well set on staff they can shed hundreds due to arbitrarily and erroneous criteria.
My trust, respect and faith in this country’s medical profession has taken a severe blow. I seriously do not believe that it will ever be restored.
I agree................
Wonder what they were?
Wonder what they were?
Surely, you can't be serious.
Yup!
When 700 Mayo Clinic employees tell you they don’t want the experimental mRNA injections...
Does that tell you something?
That's the whole idea.
That will give them the excuse they have been waiting for to crank up the concentration camps.
You got that right, and it’s not just the mayo clinic. Put down into the simplest of terms, your employer is making you take something into your body that there are no clinical trials for. As a condition of employment!
Really??? Lawsuit city
And I sometimes work in the field.
Used to work in BIG hospitals....Now a very rural Hosp.
We got slammed with 19 patients...Some died, more lived.
I've seen pre-19 stuff you don't want to see...
I've seen post COVID folks have probably permanent issues going forward....for life??? I dunno....
I do the best I can with the skills and knowledge that I have.........
Science...
Make way for the contract teams of illegal aliens who will revolutionize your health care, gringo! Viva Mexico!!
Welcome to the club! I lost all my trust in the medical profession from having worked in a lot of hospitals and clinics. A lot of doctors are skilled and motivated - but they and other medical pros are being driven out of the profession.
Everything woke turns to shit.
This is evil.
Yes it will, just watch. Out of the ashes of the corrupt establishment... one little black bag opens.
It's not so much what's in that bag, but rather who owns that bag.
God's got this. Talk about good news! I hope everyone has their Old Glory ready to fly high and resolute. Heh that's funny, a word meaning "unwavering" used for a flag.
The place where that literally matches up is the Moon.
It's all very simple but I don't have time to explain. :)
There’s a Mayo hospital in Coeur d’Alene, ID. ID does not mandate vaxes.
Should be interesting.
