Mayo Clinic fires 700 unvaccinated employees

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC/WKRC/CNN Newsource) - There was an angry protest outside of one of America's most respected medical institutions on Monday.

The world famous Mayo Clinic made good on a threat to fire employees who refused COVID vaccinations on January 3. That number reached a reported 700 employees, according to CBS Minnesota. That makes up about 1% of Mayo's 73,000 workforce.

Between chanting, honking and marching, protesters outside of Mayo Clinic made their message clear. The hospital's deadline for its employees to get vaccinated -- or terminated -- prompted dozens to speak out.

Some now-former employees joined in after their last day on the job. Others were still hospital employees who received exemption.

"As a nurse, my medical exemption was denied my first round and was approved, my appeal was approved," said Kari Wendt. "So I was very close to being in those shoes of being fired today."

Also in the group were people not associated with pandemic front line workers but in support of those out of a job.

"I'm not a health worker, I'm a veteran," said Pat Smith. "But what's happening to health workers, a lot of first responders and military, is unconstitutional." But still, there was pushback from the other side as protesters pressed on.

Overall, Mayo Clinic says its vaccination mandate has been a success. The hospital says 93% of its employees are now vaccinated. Those released Tuesday can return to Mayo Clinic for future job openings if they get vaccinated.

Seems strange to fire healthcare workers in the middle of a pandemic, I wonder how many critical care nurses and surgeons were fired because everyone knows they can be easily replaced

I used to work for them at their Scottsdale Clinic many moons ago. They were starting to get woke in the late 90s when they allowed “domestic partners” to be added on their health insurance plan.

So it’s hard to watch them turn their backs on their faithful employees for merely refusing to get an experimental vaccine. If their vaccinated employees can’t sue BigPharma for any adverse events down the road, then maybe their employers like Mayo Clinic should be next in line.

Everyone fired for this garbage should get a job as a full-time anti-big-pharma lobbyist and take up the side-hustle of filing lawsuits.

In each state, the fired medical staffers should open care centers for the unvaccinated, refusing service to all jabbed community members. Deliver normal medical services but only the the subset of America’s pariahs.

Mayo Clinic is in for a lot of future problems, employee morale, corruption, and financial liability.

How unimaginably stupid! Are they calling Kelly Services? Hello, we'd like you to send us 100 doctors, 350 nurses and sundry staff-tomorrow!

A simple “I choose not to have it.” should be all that’s needed.

Wouldn’t “success” be defined as none of those vaccinated employees getting sick?
