Is Anyone Else Spending Christmas Eve Alone?

Merry Christmas! I hope everyone is having a good evening. This is, I think, the tenth edition of the annual thread dedicated to those among us who, for whatever reason, find ourselves solo on the night before Christmas.

Here in my cozy habitat, it's just me, my faithful hound and, a little later, Ralphie Parker and then George Bailey will make his yearly appearance.

The presents are wrapped and under the tree. After dinner, I'll imbibe a latte and then maybe a little vino.

Anyone else solo tonight?

My son was going to come for the Holiday, he works at major hospital, but said covid is thick there so we cancelled out. Sorry about your family member.

Your not alone regarding kids. My son and his wife has separated and the entire family of course has fallen apart after a year of trying so hard to have Holidays together anyway. It just doesn’t work.

Other son woks in major Hospital and said covid is thick there and so cancelled our Holiday plans....could also get called in with staff shortages.

It wasn't overtime. N.Y. State counted the midnight shift as the next day, so they could schedule you for back-to-back shifts (3-11 p.m. and 11 p.m. -7 a.m. and not pay you overtime. I was a vacation relief Sergeant. I'd work other Sergeant's jobs when they were on vacation, or took a sick day, etc. Had weekends off.

At first I was desperately lonely.

Now not so much.

But its dangerous to get old alone.

This worries me.

I turn 69 in february.

I love Jesus.

One day I’ll meet him face to face.

When I meet him I’ll say

Yeah I get it.
