"Nothin' wrong with a little double time and a half, eh?"

It wasn't overtime. N.Y. State counted the midnight shift as the next day, so they could schedule you for back-to-back shifts (3-11 p.m. and 11 p.m. -7 a.m. and not pay you overtime. I was a vacation relief Sergeant. I'd work other Sergeant's jobs when they were on vacation, or took a sick day, etc. Had weekends off.

Ya, our county tried to pull that double shift with no overtime in the tailpipe trick. That didn't last long.
