Murphy’s closing argument: attacking Tesla, declares N.J. will never be affordable October 22, 20212 min readMatt Rooney If you had (1) attacking Elon Musk and (2) doubling down on his prior declaration that people looking for affordability should leave the state on your Election 2021 bingo cards, Save Jerseyans?

“If your business model includes high value-added, highly skilled workforce, we’re on your list,” Murphy told Bloomberg during a Thursday interview. “We are not going to be the low-cost state to live or work in.”
Murphy also took a jab at Tesla, saying the tech giant’s move to Texas “surprised” him.
He’s not genuinely surprised, folks. Texas is eating our lunch economically AND has still a far lower COVID-19 death rate. What’s more, as we’ve discussed many times right here, New Jersey taxpayers are NOT getting a “value-added” experience. If you don’t believe me, visit the MVC or try to start a small business. But Phil knows that his core voters vote their “values” rather than silly stuff like economics, and so he’s more than willing to take advantage of them and their antipathy for billionaires like Elon.
The problem for Murphy? At least if you believe the latest polling?
Enthusiasm for Democrat values in Trenton and D.C. is waning even among many Democrat voters. Runaway inflation, empty shelves, exploding gas prices, and all of the other insanity we’re weathering right now is clearly driving it. He’s actually got “Bare Shelves” Biden flying in on Monday at a time when the Democrat president’s job approval rating is down to nearly 42%. Biden, like Murphy, continually blames everyone other than himself for the negative consequences of his own terribly bad decisions.

Biden should be half as good at making money as Elon Musk. New Jersey – and other economically stagnant blue states with anemic job growth – could really use a Tesla plant groundbreaking at the moment.
Phil might want to think of a better closing argument with 11 days left to go.
“Please report to the winner’s circle to collect your prize!”
This article may win the prize for incoherence.
So, don’t bring your business or families to New Jersey. And, if you are already there, move.
Polls in NJ are bunk. They always show races tightening that turn out to be blow outs. Generally if it’s close, the D wins. If it shows a big lead for the R then they can win (but not always). Living here now, I don’t hear anyone talking about this election at all. Lack of interest = incumbent wins.
Bring me up, to speed on “Closing Argument”. Is this a court case? A debate about something? or what?
DemocRat "values" are not American values. They are anti-American.
Vote, vote vote!!! Staying home is a vote for Murphy!
DC apparently tops leads all the US in percent of the workforce possessing [utterly worthless] graduate degrees. Of course these days a masters degree in public policy or public administration is a basic requirement for any entry level position in any agency that is trying to plot the future of our country from wokeness policy to global climate change to diversity.
If you want to hire folks who can do something that leads to a product or service for which people will voluntarily part with their own hard earned cash, I would stay away from DC. New Jersey is apparently pretty high up on the list too.
I would not bet on DC actually. My neighborhood blog is filled with bitterness about the rise in gun violence. But these same people are all for defunding the police and only allowing the illegal possession of firearms. It's a disease among those who don't know how to do a single thing for themselves.
I read somewhere that Project Veritas had a Murphy issue video coming out. Didn’t say what the issue is. Anyone seen or heard anything?
New Jersey is one of the “bluest” states in the U.S., and yet it elects Republican governors about half the time. A big reason for this is that NJ has off-year elections, so enthusiasm for a challenger or outrage against an incumbent can go a long way in making a difference. Just ask Jim Florio and Jon “Crash Test Dummy” Corzine how that works.
Phil Murphy is both incompetent and a bumbling buffoon. But, he’s a Democrat promising to take money away from the producers and give it to the moochers.
He’ll be re-elected by a comfortable margin.
I live here, in the very nice central western area. It’s Red country. We don’t have a prayer in saving our Garden State.
That’s the rumor floating. I doubt it will move the needle.
He’s neither incompetent nor bumbling since he knows exactly what he’s doing (he may yet be a buffoon though), and what makes you presume honest elections exist in Nueva Yersey? (I saw how dirty they are when I lived there two decades ago.)
All the Republicans there are RINOs and among the furthest left of them.
“I live here, in the very nice central western area. It’s Red country.”
Me too. Hunterdon County, but I see a blue caste creeping in. Malinouski is an example. Greenies and soccer moms are getting active as us older folks die off.
Evidently, a vote for Citatelli is automatically a vote for Murphy.
I had CNN on today and they were backtracking on Virginia’s governor’s race being a bell weather. That is a good sign for repubs.
But is it a good sign for conservatives?
“We are not going to be the low-cost state to live or work in.”

Wow. There’s a winning slogan.
