I was at Costco the other day and grabbed one of two remaining bricks of Tillamook cheddar cheese. They always have that in stock - until now.

Single lines are the easiest to reach. With limited supplies, the make perfect sense.
In Capitalist country, they line the bread up for the customers.
In Soviet Union, customers line up for the bread.
That is called “fronting”—in the good old days you could reach behind the fancy looking front and find cheaper old products hidden in back.
Index card idea—Write “this empty space brought to you by Joe Biden” and tape it to the back of the shelf”.
Then you should have gotten both of them!....................

Is it normal to one one product span the area where 4, 5 or more products from various brands and types would normally be?
I am here in New Castle, NY- the same municipality that Chappaqua belongs too...I was in Shop Rite yesterday and for the first time noticed empty shelves; no bacon, no toilet paper, paper towels and a bunch of other empty shelves.
Some foreign country built a fake town or something to impress visiting dignitaries

Technically yes. Or fill in whatever you had in overstock 1-2 products deep until you are able to restock the shelves properly.
I was at Walmart yesterday, the shelves were showing signs of supply chain woes. Not just milk, but other foodstuffs and snacks. They had plenty of Halloween candy, though.
One of my earliest jobs was stocking for a major retailer. We would get in trouble trying to hide over stock because there was so much stuff.
Recently I saw shelf fronts with printed cardboard in place of empty shelves. I don’t buy much but I have noticed the shelves.
It just dawned on me. Bidens asinine lying motto Is “build back better” but Obama infamously said “you didn’t build that” lol.
As someone with a lot of history in Grocery retail, this is a daily practice called “facing”. It makes the store look neater and well organized. It is just marketing not manipulation
