Brian Laundrie lookalike ambushed by feds at gunpoint on Appalachian Trail
NY Post ^ | 10/18/2021 | Yaron Steinbuch

An upstate New Yorker bearing an uncanny resemblance to Brian Laundrie had a rude awakening when US Marshals on the hunt for the fugitive pulled their guns on him during a nap on the Appalachian Trail.

Ithaca couple Severin Beckwith and Anna Brettmann were catching a few winks at the Lodge at Fontana Village Resort after lunch when they heard a knock and their door flew open, the New Yorker reported.

“Next thing I see is a bunch of guys with riot shields with ‘US Marshals’ written on them, handguns pointed at my face,” Beckwith told the mag.

The stunned hiker was promptly handcuffed as one of the feds helped Brettmann get dressed.

In this case and others, they’d be dead.

Great, he may have got a shot or two off. HIp Hip Hooray for him.

At that point he, and his GF potentially, would have been riddled with bullets.

That may not be the answer you’re looking for and I’m certainly not condoning what the Marshal’s did, as someone that used to do that for a living when I was a detective, but he wouldn’t be around to talk to the NY Post. And, there’s a good chance his GF wouldn’t be either.

Agreed.

And simply waiting for him to come out his room to check out before 11am, was obviously too much to ask for.

Apparently the only thing they have on Laundries is a warrant for credit card fraud.

No....contrary to all the cop haters on here, some justified I will admit.

They’re after a guy that is a suspect in a murder. Yes, the only thing they have on him is the credit card warrant.

However, right or wrong, they are treating him as if he is a person wanted for murder and will act as they deem fit in that endeavor.

Is what they did to this couple over the top? Yes. As someone that used to work a unit that went after Fugitive’s I can say that it would have been much easier to wait for him in the lobby, when he checked out and walked up to him calmly. Cover the exits. There would be no article in the NYPOST, nothing on Free Republic and he could have posted something on FB, Instagram or told his friends and family about it.

If he did something other than calmly....follow me....to sort things out, that would be a different story and it would be evident right away.

But he’s not wanted for murder..
He’s wanted for credit card fraud..
They may want to question him for murder, but bringing the entire justice system down on him, including the Marshalls and swat team?

Someone’s going to get killed, and last time I checked, credit card fraud does not rate the death penalty.
The couple that this story is about were very lucky. They could have been dead.
If that doesn’t frighten you, well....

I follow a lot of these jack boot murders and a common thread is if you respond to your door being kicked in with a gun you better use it. When the victim is armed but doesn’t shoot the jbt’s light him up. When the victim comes out shooting the heroes in black panic and often wind up shooting each other. Unarmed victims usually survive though there pets may not.

So wouldn't you think it would be common sense for anyone who looks like him to STAY OFF THE APPALACHIAN TRAIL?

Why should other people's stupidity be their problem?

Besides when you are on the Trail unless it is news of world shaking importance you usually ignore it.

Another murder is not that important.

Crap, all white guys with beards look alike, especially if they’re masked up.

Say that about another ethnicity, and you’re a racist.

The Laundries could have been seen burying either Gabby's or Brian's body in their backyard, and there would have not been so much as a search warrant.

Not a question of being frightened.

Do I think he’s guilty? Absolutely

However.....

The media, with a willing public, has already convicted him. So, as far as anyone is concerned, especially law enforcement, he’s a murderer, until proven otherwise. Ergo, they will act as though he is.

When this all started there were families all over the country wondering why their family member, who was also murdered, wasn’t getting as much attention as Petitto and Laundrie were getting. And everyone of them was right to question that.

What is/was going on with the current administration that needed to be swept away, forgotten about, swept under the rug, ignored? I have no idea.

And you’re right, someone might get killed or injured as a result of this. And that will be, perhaps, the saddest part of all of this.

Again, I wasn’t in on the Marshal’s operation. I have no idea how much due diligence was done. Lots of ways to take folks into custody without endangering others or them. But, they’re going to do what they do and if something does go sideways, it’ll immediately and easily be blamed on the actions of the “guy that looked like him”. And that is what is to be feared.

Think about it.
Create an fake email account,
Compose an email, but don’t send it, save to drafts.
Mom and dad read fake email under drafts.
Compose email in return and save to drafts.
No emails hitting the servers, good luck tracking that 😊
