Fascism is a nebulous term which people throw around as a pejorative, even for minor things.
When asked what they mean by fascism, they're at a loss. Like the word 'racist,' 'fascism' or 'fascist' is typically used by liberals and their ilk to smear their opponents and to cut off debates. As for those who seriously write about fascism, each seems to have their own definition. Perhaps George Orwell said it best in 1946: "The word Fascism has now no meaning except in so far as it signifies 'something not desirable.'"
Still, a broad working definition of fascism can be found by going to the source -- Benito Mussolini, the father of 20th century fascism. Mussolini said: "Fascism should more appropriately be called corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power." Looking out over the American landscape, isn't this almost exactly what we see today, an unholy marriage between the state and big business?
To understand the scope of this, understand that the state is far more than just elected officials. It also includes the massive unelected and mostly unaccountable government bureaucracies which are permanently in place. As for corporations, it includes the mainstream media which could properly be called the corporate media. In the U.S. today, six media behemoths control a whopping 90% of what Americans read, watch, and listen to. They are GE, News-Corp, Disney, Viacom, Timer-Warner, and CBS. Other corporate players include the tech companies, the big banks, and international corporations which are too numerous to mention.
The current Wuhan pandemic provides an excellent illustration how American corporatism works.
Pfizer and Moderna produce the COVID vaccines while Washington and many state government act as cheerleaders for them through their no-excuse vaccination mandates.

“Fascism should more appropriately be called corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power.”
That might make a good tagline so I’ll update the page.

how do you sell socialism to the big money interests?
tell them they can keep making money if they help the state oppress the masses.
fascism is born
I never had a teacher who made any effort to discuss Fascism.
It's bad. Okay? End of lesson.
I always thought that was very odd. It was a major political philosophy of the early 20th century -- in its early manifestation it was popular in many areas and quite influential. Britain had a Fascist party. Some people thought Edward VIII had fascist sympathies. Italy seemed to do well under fascism. Germany too. Then, of course, it went remarkably wrong and was rejected.
But wouldn't there be a lesson there? "This is what fascism is, this is why people found it attractive, this is how it went wrong, this is why we must never do that again"?
But no one really says that.
"It's bad. Okay? End of lesson."
I've studied it quite a bit. It's on the Left. It's Collectivist. It does not value the rights of the individual, but only values the Group (meaning the State). It's Socialist. If it's bad, and if it's seen as socialism, then it taints all other forms of socialism. The International Communists (Trotsky branch) have dominated the Left for many decades and it is in their interest to make sure that no one see how similar their philosophy is to fascism. The real difference is fascism is a Nationalist philosophy and Communism has become an Globalist philosophy.
The Left really hates all forms of Nationalism because it is such a direct competition to their ideas. You can be thoroughly Collectivist, but if you are patriotic to your own country, the Left will call you a far-right extremist.
I say America is a fascist country today, and has been for quite some time. And I think I'm using the term correctly not just hurling an insult: "We are meanies and racists and, you know, fascists." No. I don't mean that. I mean we have blended Big Business with Big Government, we have largely eliminated the the rights of the Individual, and we basically worship the State. That's fascism, and that's us.
If fascism is too harsh a term for you to describe what is going on in America today, then refer to it as corporatism.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’ve been calling it fascism leaning towards complete totalitarianism since January.
You get it. Few do.
Promote this. It is im9.
I agree. I understand what fascism is and that is what the democRATs have been pushing and what we have largely become.
Do they make Comet Cleanser any more? I need some to scrub my eyes.
Yes, The major difference between socialism and fascism is the later Nationalistic direction.
We have National Socialism vs. International Socialism.
None of them are desirable.
National Socialism has a problem - it is by definition mostly limited to one country/nation, so it can be defeated. Global Socialisms does not have this problem.
Bolshevism is a better description than fascism but the public just isn’t educated enough to understand the nuance. Fascists loved their country and folk, Bolshevists hated theirs.
A basic definition of fascism I learned is: private ownership of the factors of production with government control.
What sort of government control that might be utilized could vary greatly all the way to Nazism and various degrees of a police state.
The left played both their hands to near-perfection: their bolshevist arm (antifa/blm) scared the corporations into adopting their fascist arm’s (Biden, posing as the “moderate” to Sanders) agenda. Now the corps. are non-governmental police agencies, doing a little business on the side.
Yes, Bolshevism is a better term. ANTIFA would probably love the Bolsheviks.
And Fascism marrying into Globalism will soon become the 666 system of the beast in Revelation13.
Fascism; any political system that involves government control of business and industry, media and the press, education, and forcible suppression of dissent.
The 1930 edition was about the same, but added "especially originating with the the right.) The Joseph Stalin definition was anything that bothered him.
WOW, nice lesson, you should start a thread just on this issue. i thing it needs to be explored in depth.
So... is that really Kennedy’s daughter and if so, which Kennedy?
Oh, dear. Never mind: I misread Kamala for Kennedy.
