I’m not positive what the water level was last year, but I think this year may be a little higher than last year.
The maximum designed depth of China’s largest reservoir is 175 meters (574 feet). So they still have some more leeway, but I wonder how well they can handle long-term stress near their maximum.

3 Gorges will eventually be a victim of its own success, it altered so much riparian flow that a 100-year rain event, just a simple Theta-E like Waverly stuck just west for 72 hours, will top 200 metres at +/-100,000m/s and the center will pop like a pimple.
The other probable scenario would be a fast melt from a massive winter pileup followed quickly by monsoon mid-winter rains, like The Great Flood of 1937 on the Ohio -- not the forcing but a monster flood approaching 250 metres, simply putting the dam under water for a week.
