JUST IN - China urges the U.S. to stop official contacts, arms sales to, and military ties with #Taiwan - Chinese MFA
I know what it is like to pray for Labor Day and a return to normal whatever that is these days.
The traffic has been just horrendous here too, but like where you live, we need the visitors for our restaurants, stores and cabin rentals.
You do need to screen those new people moving in, NO BRINGING YOUR LIB VIEWS AND VOTING with you.
I’ve found a cure for my dry eyes!
Just kidding, sort if, but every time I hear this song, I tear up. I can’t help it.
I’ve posted it before, but I listen to it every day or every other, it makes me feel...sad. but good. That we aren’t the only ones.

Amazon is not selling it. It was #1 in country music, but they won9sell the real mp3 - they have one listed as this song, but reviewers say it’s not. And it doesn’t get pulled, no surprise there.

While Colbert’s commentary, as usual, is just warmed-over Pelosi-speak with an invisible veneer of “comedy,” it’s also revealing about liberalism:
They do believe the War on Terror should not end but be transferred to domestic politics, with Trump voters treated like Al Qaeda.

A group of tweets analytical 1. Why Afghan forces did not fight # Taliban
in this very sad day after President Biden , the word defense that the United States did not take into account the size of the international ocean and were directed to the American voters to defend and justify the failure of security and intelligence
A dark day in US history. But why did the Afghan forces collapse so quickly? There are a number of factors that likely contributed to the very rapid collapse. Al-Qaeda Afghan security forces on the battlefield were not defeated, but the leaders of the Afghan National Army negotiated at the district level
3- Boycotts of surrender deals. This indicates that morale has completely collapsed. The Taliban’s seizure of power was virtually bloodless, at least in terms of the major battles. Based on my knowledge and contact with Afghan journalists and civil society institutions, the agreement and consensus is that officials and political leaders have been injured.
4- Frustrated due to the Biden administration’s decision to withdraw completely and the lack of a simple American force as in the past five years, or an American promise to support the Afghan government and the Afghan army if the Taliban backed by the Pakistani intelligence and the Revolutionary Guards advance, which agreed with China to preserve China’s interests
5- Inside Afghanistan. No US support for the Afghan government or the army. Note that the Taliban has already received military, intelligence or diplomatic support from most of the major governments in the region: Pakistan, Russia, Iran and even China.
6- About Chinese support for the Taliban a little more than two weeks ago, between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Taliban leader Mullah Baradar. China has publicly indicated that it supports the Taliban. China will be one of the first countries to recognize the Taliban. To maintain its mining projects and that the Taliban will not support the Jordan Valley Muslims of China.
7. Instead of fighting the Taliban, which had the support of most of its neighbors, the Afghan security forces chose to surrender rather than fight them. The fight would have been suicidal. This raises a set of questions about the “winners” and “losers” in Afghanistan.
8- Let’s be realistic. The United States of America suffered from the initial goals of defeating Al-Qaeda and destroying the Taliban. It succeeded in it but failed in the strategy later on. The way out is very shameful, a major intelligence failure and a geopolitical defeat on behalf of China, Russia, Pakistan and Iran. If America wants to focus on China
9- Afghanistan is part of this equation. Authoritarianism, religious extremism, and the suppression of basic human rights and women. China, Russia and the regional powers Pakistan and Iran are the biggest winners and the biggest victors. Not the best watch for the USA. The United States of America will probably suffer for years from what happened
I have a question, if you would please. Why is it rumored that there is a greater strategic goal and that is why the United States of America withdrew from Afghanistan? Like what happened with Iraq, which is the creation of a new enemy (Iran) and disregarding Israel, which was the first enemy of the countries in region
An important question because the Arab mind cannot comprehend that the United States of America is making strategic mistakes and that they often do not plan in the aftermath of the invasion. Just as the Obama administration has tried to change the regimes allied to it, such as the Hosni Mubarak regime, to a quasi-democratic regime, to a political Islam.
I think if Rush Limbaugh was still alive he would finally say “Now is the time to be afraid” :-(
I think our temperature has taken a nose dive. High today is expected to be 79* and there is quite a breeze blowing so hopefully it will blow all the smoke out.
Washington On Edge As Durham Prepares Possible Indictments And Report
U.S. Attorney John Durham’s investigation has been slow in coming, but on Friday, a report surfaced that he is pitching evidence to a grand jury in an investigation started back in May 2019. The Durham investigation is now longer in duration than former special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation, and many people long forgot that Durham — made a special counsel at the end of the Trump administration — was even still in the game.
The report in The Wall Street Journal said Durham is presenting evidence against FBI agents and possibly others in the use of false information or tips at the start of the Russia investigation in 2016. Those “others” could include a virtual who’s who of Washington politics, and even if they are not indicted, Durham could implicate some of the most powerful figures in politics in his final report, expected in the coming months.
Even for those of us who followed and wrote on the Russia investigation for five years, much has been revealed in the last year.
It was disclosed in October, for instance, that President Obama was briefed by his CIA director, John Brennan, on July 28, 2016, on intelligence suggesting that Hillary Clinton planned to tie then-candidate Donald Trump to Russia as “a means of distracting the public from her use of a private email server.” The date was significant because the Russia investigation was initiated July 31, 2016, just three days later.
Others are reported in some media accounts to be in Durham’s crosshairs, including an analyst at the liberal Brookings Institution, Igor Danchenko, who was a source for part of the dossier and the subject of a Durham subpoena. Danchenko has been linked to a source viewed by American intelligence as a conduit for Russian disinformation and reportedly was investigated as a possible national security threat, according to at least one news report.
For many individuals, the statute of limitations may have passed on any alleged crimes. But the truth brought to light in any final report could result a public indictment of sorts.
Attorney General Merrick Garland may face some pressure to refuse to reauthorize a continuation of the Durham investigation, but he is likely to continue that support. After all, the Mueller investigation and various damaging investigations targeting Trump officials were approved and protected by his predecessor, William Barr.
The final fight may be over the report itself. Many in Congress and the media may not want it to see the light of day since it is likely to be an indictment not just of the FBI but of the establishment and an enabling media. Yet these same figures demanded “full transparency” over the Mueller report, including secret grand jury material barred from release under federal law. Even in a city that lives on political spin, reversing that narrative to demand secrecy or major redactions may be difficult to achieve in front of an increasingly distrustful public.
