They do, however, sell your blood sample to the ChiComs for their database.
Similarly, I sent in a sample from both of my parents and found that the man my mom thought was her dad, wasn’t. Fine with me, as he abandoned my grandmother while she was pregnant. Of course that might also explain why he left. I did find out she has a half sister, and that UK has really tight privacy laws. You can have pretty much anything deleted, including birth and marriage records going back over a hundred years. Probably to protect the royals.
My FIL was adopted, and found his half brother and sister when he submitted DNA. He had been searching unsuccessful for a decade. He and his brother look like twins, and have almost exactly the same interests and hobbies. It’s uncanny.
I haven’t sent my own in, but I wouldn’t exactly be shocked if I found out something surprising. As for the OP, if anyone believes the lizard story, I have a bridge for sale.
How do you collect enough lizard spit for the test?
Show ‘em scantily clad female lizard pics until they drool?
“Maybe our understanding of DNA is just all wrong.”
That sounds like an anti-science post. Places you alongside progressives and other communists.
Sure.
I assume that you KNOW that ‘science’ is always right, at any moment in time; and that nothing it ‘knows’ ever changes...
If so, you have a lot to learn about Science.
So 23 and me was caught faking their genetic results.
To cover for them, you’re relying on the entire DNA knowledge base over the past century and a half to be wrong.
Here’s a lesson for you: when your favorite people commit fraud, you can’t just make things up about science to save their reputation.
I knew my mother, God rest her soul. I have heard any number of stories that I might be the illegitimate child of a wealthy Jewish person in my home state who apparently had a long-running affair with my mom over a period of several years, but I have no interest in finding out if it is true.
My successes, such as they are, are my own. My failures in life, likewise. Neither the person who was married to my mother nor the man rumored to be the sperm donor were around to be a father for me when I was growing up, and both are now deceased, so my lack of interest in finding out who did what is complete.
I simply do not care. I won’t be getting a DNA test.
Pretend you are doing science and you can fool many with fraud. Its a growing scam as idiots give the shamsters cover by decrying “science deniers”.
One Newfoundland can provide enough test material to check on every DNA ancestry outfit on Earth in about ten minutes.
I sent in saliva from my pet rat and it came back Democrat, go figure
A father buys a lie detector robot that slaps people when they lie.
He decides to test it out at dinner one night. The father asks his son what he did that afternoon.
The son says, "I did some schoolwork."
The robot slaps the son.
The son says, "Ok, Ok. I was at a friend's house watching movies."
Dad asks, "What movie did you watch?"
Son says, "Toy Story."
The robot slaps the son.
Son says, "Ok, Ok, we were watching porn."
Dad says, "What? At your age I didn't even know what porn was."
The robot slaps the father.
Mom laughs and says, "Well, he certainly is your son."
The robot slaps the mother.
Robot for sale.
So what does the lizard like to eat?
NO! Are you trying to tell me that people will lie, cheat, steal, murder, defraud... Surely you are wrong about that! Naive!
More importantly: Have you now established friendly relations with your half-sister? Is she invited to family reunions now? Does she invite you to her family functions? Do you correspond with each other? How has this affected you personally?
Regards,
“All you’re really doing is sending your DNA into a database,”
Yup. Might as well send your credit cards and soc security card to them.
