Chinese strategists officially decided long ago that taking Taiwan would be very difficult, *unless* the US was distracted with an unconventional disaster of some kind.
They initially considered a covert biological attack, but then decided that it was necessary to disrupt the ports of Bremerton, WA and San Diego, to cripple the Pacific fleet.
This would put them on a strict timetable to capture Taiwan before the Atlantic fleet could arrive. Any Pacific warships at sea would need to be damaged if possible, especially the submarines.
The alternative to this would be to thoroughly pulverize Taiwan with rockets and missiles.
All kinds of holes in these scenarios.
