He was shot with a 22 rifle. So, according to many of the gun experts on the internet he shouldn’t be dead. After all “it’s just a 22.” I’ve learned that .25acp, .32acp, .38 spec also are weak rounds that can’t hurt anybody through my extensive research on the internet. Oh yeah. Apparently 9mm also.
I wonder if these kids “learned” that too.
Must be why hit men use 22’S,they are so ineffective
Don’t give the government any ideas about funding a pointless study.
Oops, too late:
“Confirmed: Large-Caliber Guns More Likely to Kill”

I’ve killed cows with a .22 rifle.
Line up a spot between the eye and the ear.
Pow
Doesn’t say 22lr
For all we know it could’ve been 22mag, 223 etc

It all depends on how fast you want them to bleed out.
If you have an half hour, .22 will do the job just fine.
10 seconds or less? You need a lot more power and diameter.
The problem with .22LR isn’t that it won’t kill - obviously, it can - it’s that it usually doesn’t stop/kill *fast enough* from a reasonable range.
I’ve seen more game killed with a 22 LR than any other caliber and yes that includes bear. My x wife is a Nurse Practitioner and said they hated 22 worse than any other injury because most big stuff will pass straight through, a 22 you had to cut someone up just to see what all it bounced around and went through.
I personally wouldn’t chose it for killing yourself because I knew a guy who shot himself thru the temple and it came out the other side he even walked to the ambulance and for a few days was doing good then the brain swelling came on and that’s what killed him, come to find out he really didn’t won’t to die.. but yeah a 22 will kill...
The first thing I learned in high school rifle club was that a .22 rifle shell can travel a mile away and indeed can kill, so keep your gun in a safe position and the safety on at all times till you’re ready to fire it. And never fire randomly in open country.
Those kids and their families have ruined their lives and their parents should have taught them gun safety before letting them loose with one.
I had a neighbor here in rural MO tell me that more deer have been taken with a 22 than any other caliber. I guess truck hunting is a thing younger people do around here and hunting season means nothing to them. They just drive around with a 22 and when they see a deer, take a shot even if the vehicle’s still moving.
