Western US is a tinderbox waiting to explode after record heat and the worst drought in potentially 1,200 YEARS could spell disaster with threats of wildfires, water shortages and blackouts

The dual threats of heat and drought could spell disaster for communities along the US west coast, as the region faces the potential for record temperatures this weekend and more in store for the summer.

With a heat wave gripping much of the region for over the past week, the threat for wildfires, blackouts and water shortages only increases as it experiences its worst drought in 20, and potentially even 1,200 years if it continues, and even hotter conditions are expected for this weekend.

Already, temperatures have reached 116 degrees in Las Vegas and 115 degrees in Phoenix. On Thursday, California Gov. Gavin Newsom declared a statewide emergency, warning that the state's power grid was under stress due to the heat, and called on residents to conserve electricity.

It's likely to get worse, with places in the northwest such as Portland, Oregon and Redding, California potentially in for temperatures topping 112 degrees and 113 degrees respectively this weekend.

And it's only the start of summer.

It’s June.

I was in Phoenix on June 26, 1990.

It would seem as though every libtard on the planet has a memory of a couple of months and thats it.

Everything is a “surprise” or “unexpected” to them.

You should do what I do. Live in northern Alberta!

It’s nothing but sunshine and bears heh.

Too old to move back. Mid70s. This is my end game here on my cattle farm in Florida.

I mow family cemetery here on the farm once a week and will try to have it looking nice when they have my funeral.

After living on a rural farm for ten years, I've been back to Tempe for class reunions several times but it is not the same.

As in most things in life, you can't go back and capture the past because the current version has all changed. Friends have died and gone. My homes are no longer there. The pace of the big city is too fast for me now.

All I can say, is thank God for air conditioning in the summertime in Florida.

Thanks but no thanks. I vowed years ago to never live anywhere again where it snowed or got very cold. Life is too short.

And we have mosquitos here in Florida but I bet they are so big in Alberta, you keep and feed them like pets. :-)

Back in 1957, Public Service Announcements were broadcasting how, in the US there were so many wildfires, if put together they would cover the entire state of Louisiana. That is 33,177,408 acres.

Since that time the number of acres burned is about a third or less of Louisiana. in 2020, 10,122,336 acres burned in the US.

Haha, last night a friend brought his tipping table for the horses. You stick them in there and it grabs them and flips on their side, then one can trim feet.

We’re doing this and one of my horses is fighting so you’re focused on what you’re doing so the mosquitos had a heyday. On my front deck though I have a big zapper. It’s great to sit there with coffee and listen to mosquitos ride the lightning heh.

Prepper Ping – Doom and Gloom Report Imported from "Over the Pond", for the US - Drought/ Heat/ Fires

" "The dual threats of heat and drought could spell disaster for communities along the US west coast,

"It's likely to get worse, with places in the northwest such as Portland, Oregon and Redding, California
potentially in for temperatures topping 112 degrees and 113 degrees respectively this weekend.

(FReeper Metmom's comment :) "Government mismanagement is a huge part of the potential problems from any natural disaster.
Forest management and wise water storage and use would go a long way to preventing the problems US residents will be facing should the weather be extreme.
Also, Bad weather or wildfires could cause a lot of food production and transport issues.
There have been threads addressing the potential for a wheat crop failure, which means a real problem for basic staples."

(My Comment) : Prepare now, because supplies will never be as cheap, or as reasonable, as they are right now due to crop shortages, or, as compounded by inflation.
Add to all this, the political strategy of the political leftists, for "The GREAT RESET", and your head may be swimming with confusion.
Think logically and without emotion as to where any weaknesses may be, and which areas can be secured as cheaply and quickly as possible : Prioritize !!
Best to get ready for it now,.. because this ain't no fire drill !

We've used the tipping chute to flip our cows on their sides to trim their hooves when they need it. Pretty neat piece of equipment.

I deal with mosquitoes the old fashioned way. When they get thick at dusk, I come inside. :-)

Trump should do a swing by after he visits the border and scold Democrats for not properly managing natural resources and warn them trouble is ahead.

Exactly.

Cities and Golf Courses built IN THE DESERT and wanting the full range of amenities never made sense to me.

But, what do I know? I’m just a Dumb Yankee who lives between The GLORIOUS Great Lakes and The Mighty Mississippi. ;) (We ARE 9” below normal on rain this season, though.)

Even animals/birds & slithering things know to live near a water source. ;)

As if we need any more warnings.

Most people think that food will always show up at the grocery stores.

Many Darwin awards will be handed out.

Well the good news is that we’re prepped.
Those who ignored that advice will find out soon enough how big of a mistake that was.

Food & water is worth more than gold.

Hah ya, thought you were going to say WD40 and a zippo, that’s effective.

One mare wouldn’t go in at all, she’ll have to wait until she goes to his ranch. I’m sending a few up for finishing.

There’s a few things I do for mosquitoes and yes, sometimes it’s just going inside.
