Well, congratulations, New York Islanders fans. You’re in the semifinals of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. You picked off the Bruins in six games. And you also gave us chills. Well, for real Americans, it gave us chills. Prior to the start of game 6, singer Nicole Raviv kicked off the event with her rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner, but she had back-up, which was an arena filled with Islanders fans who were eager to put this series away.

Long Island is part blue and part red in the very blue state of New York. The Eastern part of Long Island ( Suffolk County ) voted for Trump TWICE ( 2016 and 2020 ).
How uplifting to hear an entire Colosseum of people singing the national anthem! Just seeing all those hockey fans crowded together without wearing masks is great. MAGA!
In general most US hockey fans are more conservative in general.
So, same with Bruins fans all over New England.
The liberals are Celtics and fair weather Red Sox fans.
Everybody is a Pats fan.
Well done by the singer to allow the crowd to chime in.
I think most Sox fans are libs, Pats fans conservative.
Sox fans are both Libs and conservatives.
The Libs are the Pink Hats that go to the game and spend the entire time on their phone. They leave after the seventh inning stretch so they can sing “Caroline”.
The conservatives are the ones yelling “YANKEES SUCK” at the top of their lungs, taunting Jeter, Arod and dreding when Mariano came in to close for the hated “Evil Empire”.
Hockey is a racist white imperialism sport. Time to get rid of it./s

Perhaps there’ll be an article condemning this in the NYT. They don’t seem to appreciate Long Islanders’ attitudes.
Years ago, some dirt ball threw a banana onto the ice when Simmonds was going for a shoot-out goal...if he'd tracked down the "fan" and pummeled him I'd have given Simmonds an award and banned the "fan" for life. And for what it's worth, Simmonds acknowledged the banana rattled him, and his only thought was to get off a shot -- which went in for the Flyers' only score in the shootout. Now THAT is a pro.
I was sorry to see him go. Oh, and good on their fans but the Islanders still suck and owe their 1980 Cup win to Stickle.
Except the coaches. How STUPID they looked!
