How very cute. Will only work for short haul.
Wow. You got a lot of responses, and I am sure my question has been mentioned by someone else. Anyway, my issue would be what would happen when 100 cars plug into the power grid of a neighborhood instead of only one? I bet you would have to rewire the entire country.
These are not electric vehicles. Depending upon the generating source, they are coal, natural gas, nuclear, wind or solar cars. Since they don’t pay road repair costs through gas taxes they will soon be required to report annual mileage through the IRS to pay for road repair. This is what is meant by the Green New Deal.
I believe the new Communist regime will push these things onus very quickly once they have consolidated their Revolution. It has benefits in that it restricts mobility and will put a government tracker in every EV as that is how they will assess road taxes. It will be easy to add software that prevents your car from going over posted speed limits or reporting your transgressions if you can go over, and preventing it from being used for longer hours than “science” says is good for you. It is already done in trucks.
Talk about misleading. Your statement that IC engines are only 20% efficient is flat out wrong. Modern otto cycle engines run 30 to 35 % efficient. Makes a big difference in your comparison PLUS electric motors are NOT 100% efficient looking on google I found 77% as a number, but this was from an EV site so I suspect it’s somewhat optimistic. By the way you haven’t addressed where the power is going to come from. And don’t spew out BS about wind and solar.
...and they’ve all gotten the government to do it for them.
The expensive so-called electric cars were called “coal powered cars” by Rush Limbaugh. They are 2% of the market now.
Meaning, the electricity to re-charge them would have to come from coal burning power plants....or nuclear plants.
And the time it takes to re-charge them is ridiculous.
A fuel cell using hydrocarbons to generate the electricity for motors could triple the overall efficiency of the power train. Batteries plus super caps would be to some extent needed as a buffer.
Ian Wright refurbishes route servicing trucks with a combination of electric motors, batteries, and a gas turbine charging system. This approach also achieved outstanding fuel economy in the niche application.
No, it won’t be banned. Your 2019 Ford is already ecologically friendly.
However, in some urbanised countries like the UK, internal combustion systems will be banned from 2050.
It’s not going to happen in the USA or Russia or Australia or France.
Electric cars have a place in urban areas. Gas cars and trucks have their place as well
Or swap batteries in minutes
Only if we accept it
The basic premise of the essay is flawed.
That electric vehicles are going follow the internet in adaption and change rates.
Motorized vehicles are an old concept and ta stable technology. Although the government and the industry wants change and may strong arm it it is not a voluntary filling of a need that the internet had been.
There are no new ideas coming from evs just industry demands that diminish individuals freedoms and force compliance.
A modular pit stop? That sounds like fun.
More pandemic for you! You will comply. And don’t forget to recharge your vaccines every three months.
One more reason among many to rid ourselves of the scourge the left has become.
Thanks for the link to an interesting video!
The first “vaccine” to require seasonal boosters.
After a substantial drive, place a hand upon the transmission and drive axle which dissipate power between the engine and the wheels. There one will find additional losses of efficiency. These are cooled in large part by airflow with the vehicle in motion. An automatic transmission also resorts to cooling through the engine radiator or independent radiator (oil cooler.)
Yes and your point is?
