Even though I’m a Southerner, I have to admit the Civil War is probably the time period of which I know the least.

I think I need to do some research to see which history books are worth having before they’re burned in the bonfires....

Energy producers fear Biden executive order on climate-related financial risk

A little-noticed news event this week with potentially major long-term implications for the U.S. oil and gas industry was President Biden’s executive order directing federal agencies to address the risks climate change poses to the U.S. financial system and federal government.
Biden’s order directs federal agencies to incorporate the economic risks from climate change into decision-making, and it does not specifically address fossil fuel investments, but the concern among energy producers is that financial regulators ultimately will use their power to steer banks and investors away from the industry.
Many big banks, setting targets to align their financing with the Paris climate agreement, already have ended funding for coal projects, and the oil industry fears it could be next.

This week, the G7 nations agreed to stop international financing of coal projects by the end of this year and phase out such support for all fossil fuels.
Also this week, environmental activists who have long called for ending such funding got a boost when the International Energy Agency said “investment in new fossil fuel supply projects must cease immediately.”

The civil war wasn’t started over slavery, it was over trade and taxes or tariffs. Lincoln added the slavery issue to get more support.

Will “60 Minutes” get canceled now?

60 Minutes Runs Explosive Segment Featuring Young Transgender Individuals Who Decided To Reverse Course

On Sunday, CBS News’ “60 Minutes” ran a segment about transgender issues facing today’s young people in America, which featured, in part, transgender individuals who decided to reverse course after taking hormones and undergoing surgery.

The segment featured how transgender activists have pushed back on legislation across the U.S. that aims to protect children from undergoing potentially life-altering medical procedures before they are old enough to understand the ramifications of their decisions. One of the transgender advocates said the fact that so many transgender individuals had decided to de-transition was proof that more resources were needed for trans individuals, not fewer.

...so they just need more money...

China will continue to produce fossil fuel and coal, and will finance it with all the money they’ll make selling it to the G7.

And don’t forget states’ rights.

I well remember Lincoln saying if he could save the union without freeing the slaves, he would do so.

Ok, I wasn’t there when he said it, but I read about it!

“I well remember Lincoln saying if he could save the union without freeing the slaves, he would do so.”

I don’t recall the exact words I read but I do remember Lincoln’s biggest concern was to keep the Union together.

In doing genealogy I learned my husbands Great Aunt was a slave owner. I also learned his Great-Grandfather fought for the South then deserted to go fight for the North.

It saddens me how much history is being destroyed.

I think the confusion might be that Bongino is taking over Rush’s old time slot, but not taking over his show.

The confusion come from the fact that many were saying the Bongino was "taking over for Rush."

That is not true in any sense. He is not of the same caliber. He's doesn't have the same distribution or network. He isn't affiliated with EIB.

The only common point is the time of day that he will be on.

It saddens me to see our history destroyed too. Good or bad, it’s our history to learn from.

You are saying exactly what SOL posted. I suggest you direct your anger at the people that are ruining this country instead of patriots that aren’t using the exact words you demand.

G-7 Reportedly Nears Deal On Yellen’s Global Minimum Corporate Tax Proposal

After agreeing to lower the minimum effective rate to 15% from 21%, the Biden Administration is close to clinching a deal with the other members of the G-7 on an international tax accord that they could then bring to the G-20 and OECD, the NGOs that are the leading venues for what would be the biggest international tax accord in a century. According to an FT report, an accord paving the way for a global deal could be ready as soon as Friday.

To be sure, there are still some kinks that need to be worked out: the UK has been described by some of the FT’s sources as “difficult.” and both Britain and France supposedly want to place a greater weight on the location of tax payments. But officially, ministers in London insist they want to make sure that both elements of the deal are prioritized and the US administration is serious in pushing the change to the location of corporate tax payments through Congress.

However, amid all this progressive cheering, The FT does admit - deep in the story - that countries with lower corporation tax rates have not yet signalled their agreement.

Petty sure that’s what I said, except worded differently from you.

Both Limbaugh and Bongino had contracts with Cumulus Media; Cumulus Media decided to place Bongino in the time slot previously held by Rush, which was announced back in March. I agree that the media did a poor job in their choice of wording reporting the story.

Texas Becomes Third State To Pass Free-Range Kids Law

“You had the most right-wing members of the legislature signed on with most left-wing members.”

The statute enshrining childhood independence is part of a bigger children’s services bill ensuring Texans that the state will not intervene and remove kids from their homes unless the danger is so great and so likely that it outweighs the trauma of entering the foster care system.

It does so because it “changes our definition of neglect,” Rep. Gene Wu, a Democrat, told the assembly. From now on, kids will be removed only when “they’re actually in danger, and not just the possibility of danger.”

This way the bill not only protects parents who want to let their kids play outside, “it also enables parents struggling to make ends meet to make childcare arrangements that make life easier rather than harder,” says Diane Redleaf, Let Grow’s legal consultant. In other words, it prevents poverty from being mistaken for neglect

It would have been most welcome in 2015 when Houston mom Laura Browder was arrested for having her kids wait 30 feet away from her in a food court when she had a job interview there and didn’t have time to line up child care. The arrest came after she had accepted the new job.

At the same time, the bill also helps folks who choose not to helicopter parent, like Austin mom Kari Anne Roy, whose case made headlines in 2014. Roy was at home while her six-year-old played within view of the house for about ten minutes. A passerby marched him home and called the cops. Police officers paid Roy a visit, and a week later, child services interviewed each of her children separately. They asked the boy, 12, if he had ever done drugs, and the girl, eight, if she had seen movies with people’s private parts—something she’d never even heard of. “Thank you, CPS,” Roy said.

That kind of thing is in the rearview mirror now, in Texas.

The least the Biden Admin could do was keep all of Trump’s policies & the economy & take credit it for it.

But Nooooo.... they have to destroy everything out of spite and install their America Last policies.
