NCAA backs biological males competing in women’s sports, as showdown looms with Florida over pending law

The National Collegiate Athletic Association, a cartel controlling the multibillion-dollar college athletics business, may be painting itself into a corner. Probably because it is a creature of the higher education industry that has gone off the deep end in its commitment to far-left politics, the NCAA is taking an extreme position on transgenderism and apparently seeking a confrontation with the State of Florida if it passes a law currently under consideration that would limit participation in women’s sports to biological women.

SNIP

Florida appears to be the trigger for the NCAA’s statement and is the principal object of itss implicit threat to move championship games if its transgender diktat is not followed, as Andrew Atterbury reports in Politico:

The NCAA is “closely” keeping tabs on states including Florida that are moving to ban transgender athletes from playing girls’ sports, warning in a statement Monday that locations that don’t treat all student-athletes with “dignity and respect” could lose out on hosting championship games.

While not mentioning Florida by name, the statement from the NCAA Board of Governors comes just one day before the House is slated to take up its proposal clarifying that female sports teams are specifically for “biological” women and girls. State lawmakers were quick to criticize the NCAA’s ta “When determining where championships are held, NCAA policy directs that only locations where hosts can commit to providing an environment that is safe, healthy and free of discrimination should be selected,” the NCAA Board of Governors wrote in a statement.

Florida’s former Governor. now Senator Rick Scott is not cowering in fear as 2 tweets yesterday demonstrate:

The @NCAA likes to threaten FL and other states. Well, here’s a threat to the NCAA – the American people are not going to allow biological males to compete in women’s sports.

Communists make their subjects say things that are known not to be true in order to break their will.

It IS one good way to drive women OUT of sports. Just let the transgenders beat them till no women can win any championships or medals anymore. Gone.

NCAA took a bazooka and not only blew its feet off but its legs as well. Good going. Not.

The usual method for the GOP to deal with ‘divisive issues’ is to have it killed by Republicans in the legislature, as we do in the Texas House (which is why you never see anything useful out of Texas, despite our huge GOP majorities).

Let’s just see what happens here...

I support the NCAA’s position and can only hope that it destroys collegiate athletics.

There are still some Republicans hypnotized into believing organized sports are more important than election integrity and defense of children from mutilation, but that number is falling rapidly.

Living in Florida I totally support what the State is doing with respect to keeping women playing women’s sports...

But we need all Red States to stand up to this and any Blue States with any balls...

I can’t imagine the NCAA taking on Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Louisiana and Texas.....and many others..

Think of all the NCAA Championship events that take place yearly in those states....

Heck the State of Florida, has 3 schools with multiple National Championships in Football, 2 championships in Basketball and many others in Baseball....

Not to mention as a Alumnus of UF, their women’s teams have National Titles in a bunch of women’s sports, Soccer, Softball, Tennis, Swimming and diving, track and field...etc....

The State has multiple major bowl games in football every year and hosted the national title game last year....

You want to create a war between the States, bar Alabama from a National Title game in Football because of this and it would be on....

The SEC alone is a powerhouse in just about every college sport men and women’s....

Stand strong and call their bluff....

Exactly, even something as easy as Constitutional Carry is DOA in Texas.

The corrupt NCAA is making the same threat to Indiana - but this is all a smokescreen. The NCAA is about to lose big in the Supreme Court on compensation for student athletes.

I am also an Alumnus of UF. They have gone almost full woke recently. A big disappointment to me.

Sometimes Rick Scott gets it wrong (like with guns, REALLY wrong), and sometimes he gets it right. On the issue of institutionalized gender psychosis, he's right.

I hope he isn't just talking...
