Your post here too....Some ‘history’

;
I was a member. Went to meetings. Believed everything they were saying would come about if we let it. And here we are.
I gather that your use of the term “paleocon” is used as a negative application, yet the John birch society would be described as the pinnacle of paleoconservative ideology.
What specifically do you take issue with in the paleoconservative perspective? To which item in the below description are you specifically opposed?
“Paleoconservatives support restrictions on immigration; decentralization; trade tariffs and protectionism; economic nationalism; isolationism and a return to traditional conservative ideals relating to gender, culture, and society.[19]
Paleoconservatism differs from neoconservatism in opposing free trade and promoting republicanism in the United States. Paleoconservatives see neoconservatives as empire-builders and themselves as defenders of the republic.[20][21]
Paleoconservatives tend to oppose abortion, gay marriage and LGBTQ rights.”
Not sure how to do it, but would agree.
You couldn’t be more wrong. Wouldn’t it be smarter to ask what I mean before jumping to a conclusion?
Ok...what do you mean?
The slogan: “Get America out of the UN and the UN out of America!” is genius and can be used today by a populist politician (as long as they mean it!).
My understanding is that they were anti-communists, but I often hear the name used interchangeably with the Klan.
Scram, I don’t converse with people who jump to conclusions.
Maybe you meant to say neocons?
...because the JBS is paleoconservative
So go ahead and explain.
We’ll wait...
You have no idea what a paleoconservative is, or you’d know that is EXACTLY what the JBS is?
Or maybe you meant to say neocon?
Kindly explain your comment about “...then paleocons supported him, albeit quietly.”
FWIW, I also detest the use of unnecessary abbreviations and acronyms on FR. We have plenty of space here to type out all the words!
Dad was NYPD. ..He was from the 40s to the late 60s. He had their pamphlets in his car. It was a cop thing st the time. I was to busy checking out the chicks and trying to score beer without an 18 year old ID. (Yeah 18 back then) to worry about the country back then. I wish I had been more observant at that time.
If you post your opinion you should be prepared to reasonably defend it, expand upon it and explain it.
If you are unable to defend what you post, maybe more thought should be involved before posting, rather than telling others to shut up?
It’s never too late.
Trump has started something that will send shockwaves through the GOP and the political establishment.
Not before time ...
Well I don’t condone violence of course and neither does JBS from what I know about them..
Of course. I added that article to the conversation because I lived thru the event.
William F Buckley, of Firing Line and formerly of National Review. Some of us are old enough to remember him. Outstanding, where he was good. I’ll stop there.
