Folks...it is becoming apparent that the Democrats are pursuing policies that are going to collapse our economy. They are also taking steps to make sure they never leave power. What is a person to do? We have the examples of Argentina and Venezuela clearly before us. Anyone have some helpful ideas? Ferfal of Argentina has a blog spot and wrote a book, but information from our situation here would be helpful.
You’re talking about the supply chain collapsing, not about there being nothing to buy.
The supply chain is certainly something to worry about, especially for those in today’s cities relying on just-in-time delivery. Credit will certainly fail - for a time - so we who expect a crash should certainly have a deep larder, long prepared, at the very least.
But there have been many, many hyperinflations in history and the food doesn’t disappear. What happens is that fiat currency doesn’t buy it any more.
That’s the thing: most people don’t grasp that gold carries value to the other side of the crisis - it’s not much useful during the crisis. I expect few indeed will know how to use gold mid-crisis, and it takes two to transact.
Once you have a 12 V storage battery capability take a look at USB lights and fans. In the past year or so there have been significant LED driver advances and more efficient small DC motors.
Here's a link to one of their fans I've used for more than a year...OPolar USB dual desk fan
Has a small foot print, easily stores, dual stack fans tilt and oscillate multi speed, very quiet w/10,000 mAh lithium batteries. Fit my sliding glass windows for exhaust and fresh air intake...all night long with power to spare...can operate on direct DC from wall adapter. They also have Great way to stretch available battery capacity.
Another big advantage is that with onboard rechargeable batteries the fans and light aren't tethered to inverter outlets or extension cords...move them as needed. USB 5V items are cheap and efficient now...even RV owners are moving away from 12 Volt small appliances. Get a high USB 3 12 volt adapter plug and some power banks for distributed wirpower.hortable power.
Thanks for this ping. This unit could be used in our kitchen at the window over the sink to exhaust hot/stale air or to bring in fresh air from the outside.

If it is really quiet, it could be used in our family room or master bedroom to move the air around.
The premise is Venezuela.
The premise is NOT an economic depression or Weimer Republic. The conditions are Sarajevo when humans turn savage ready to kill for food, firewood. Yes, some medicines but beans and bullets are the primary currency.
I live in a rural area with a lot of dairy farming. I have always thought there might be some farmer out there willing to trade a substantial amount of milk or meat for a bottle of decent booze if the stuff hits the fan. Especially since they would probably be unable to get that stuff to market.
Doesn’t bother my sleep running all night...and my hearing is still excellent at mid 70 years age.
“Anyone able to provide meaningful information?”
Real gold is always good, but may be seized when things get really bad, so it’s best to hide at least some of it.
Land holdings should be good, but that assumes that the government won’t either seize the land outright or perhaps find a bug that needs national protection on that land.
Of course foreign currency is critical, and we might as well get used to it, the Chinese Yawn is probably the best to buy (if you can)...they’re not going to let their economy collapse regardless of how stupid the rest of the world is.
Ha!! I know not a great example...But I could envision food / soup lines..
I went that track too until I realized if they shut everything down, then if you don’t have physical gold in your hand, how are you going to use it as barter? If you have had one of these “sellers” hold your gold, you are totally at their mercy if you need it out. Several have been sued out of existence for not returning physical gold. I took actual possession from a large TV broker, and was cheated. I suggest that if you want physical gold, go to a local seller (many are in pawn shops), and they will give you a better price when selling (or buying). You can check the price on a daily basis. As far as owning paper assets, I have done that and realized that you are trusting that the system will remain intact. I don’t believe that it will...
That dairy farmer would likely trade milk for bullets before booze.
BLM/Antifa and the like will raid the dairy farm but bullets will stop them.
When starvation sets in, previously friendly civil neighbors and townsfolk will turn savage and look at you as food but bullets will make them think twice.
If you have food, you’ll trade it for bullets, guns, fuel, medicine but mostly ammunition and other food.
Beans and Bullets become the euphemism for the only acceptable currency under such conditions. This is not an opinion, this is documented historical fact.
When you hear preppers talking up guns and food, they are not extremists, they are wise and realistic.
I no longer buy into that.
And it’s safe to assume the Dems know and understand the Roman emperor Severus’ deathbed advice to his sons...”Stick together, pay the soldiers, and forget everything else”.
“What happens to loans with banks that go under because they get over-leveraged after inflation kills their investments?
I have a feeling the government buys them up.”
What happens if the government collapses and the dollar goes away?
Mortgages are written for loans in currency of the Dollar and under US laws. I guess the mortgages would disappear if this happen.
“I know you wont just get to keep the property you don’t technically own yet because the bank had the deed.”
The deed is in the land owners name. There is just a mortgage (legal document) is filed at the county government against the Land.
Total BS. Do you really think that the cashier at the mini-mart, who can't count to 10 without using his fingers, is going to calculate the spot price of gold and then provide change when I use a $2,500 gold coin to buy a $72 bottle of water?
a better bug out transport
Don’t lol, this guy and family make it look playful, but in reality think of why he is doing what he is doing in his other camping and project videos as well.

And yes it is real.
Blessings.
Ferfal’s book is garbage...one long infomercial about how he and only he knows what is best...all other experts don’t know what they are talking about.
What you are trying to do when extreme inflation or hyperinflation hits is twofold:
1. Trying to set yourself up so that you can acquire the necessities to survive.
2. Trying to protect the purchasing power of your current savings.
The first of these points is dependent on several factors, among these: supply, logistics, regularity of income, the purchasing power of that income to be able to avoid the necessities.
We can’t predict what will be the situation, and it is generally one that unfolds, slowly at first, then rapidly, until you are in a Venezuela situation where the necessities do not exist.
Stock up on the essentials. If you have a backup location, stock up there, too. If you are in population densities where riots could start and spread to where you are and if you have to leave, have a plan and a location.
Regarding item 2, real estate, gold and silver (precious metals) are usually the fallback for any situation where a currency is being devalued. If we get anywhere near a Venezuela situation, this administration is likely to confiscate your real estate (for collateral on foreign loans) and let you pretend to keep it, which may mean barring you from accessing it. I know a US citizen that has a vacation home in Canada. Justine Trudeau the over-compensating metrosexual communist did not allow Americans in, even if they were homeowners and paying taxes. So don’t think socialists/communists won’t take your property.
Gold is fairly expensive, but it is about the best store of “purchasing power,” that is, the best protector of your current savings. However, in a SHTF situation, it is difficult to use to purchase items. What are you going to do, take a file to a Gold Eagle and shave off some gold dust to make a purchase?
Another (and sometimes better) alternative is junk silver coins. These have various denominations and retain their purchasing power fairly well (because they are 90% silver), and they are easier to use as ‘money’ if the currency collapses.
I’ve long thought it would be good to have several cases of those small ‘airline’ bottles of booze.
You may not want to trade an entire bottle of bourbon, but if you had several hundred of the little bottles, you may use 5 or 10 to make a deal.
You really trust the Treasury not to change the terms if we enter a period of extreme inflation or hyperinflation?
They will in a heartbeat.
And they’ll confiscate all of our private retirement accounts if they want.
Land and ammunition.
Weapons and a lot of ammo. Cigarettes and beer.
