Turner Classic Movies will hold a full roundtable discussion at the start of several of old Hollywood's most celebrated films to warn viewers about 'sexist and racist content' - prompting major mixed reaction from fans, with some slamming 'sick' cancel culture.
On Thursday, the cable network kicked off Reframed: Classic Films in the Rearview Mirror, a series where it says it examines the 'troubling and problematic' aspects of the classics, which were released from the 1920s to the 1960s.
Among the 18 flicks under the microscope include Breakfast at Tiffany's, Psycho, Gone With the Wind, My Fair Lady, Stagecoach, The Jazz Singer, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and more.

Wow... glad I don’t pay for those any more. We cut the cord on that BS and don’t miss it at all.
This why we have DVDs.
is Blazing Saddles still ok to watch?
I’m wondering when Amazon removes movies I bought from this kindle I have in my cold hands.
These people are silly. But dangerously so. On jeopardy the guy who is not the late Alex Trebec said that we should be nice to each other. I was brought up by people who taught me that. Why do I as an adult have to hear people tell me I am bad and I must become better. People rejected the church for less, yet here we are lectured by the same people.
Are they taking the place of religion which has been shut out?
None of these people will mention that current culture, including the guy they are pretending is president, militantly promotes abortion. Mothers killing their own children.
After abortion is eradicated, and it will be, as it is against natural law, how will these same Hollywood people be seen? As evil. They don’t consider that. I could tell them they should, but they’d respond that I cannot tell them what to do and think. Only the promoters of abortion are allowed to tell people that others are bad.
I am beginning to understand how book burners in NAZI Germany came about.
Was Andy Griffith considered racist because it was extremely rare to have a non-White person in an episode?
The Andy Griffith show is almost a hobby of mine. I’ve seen every episode, some 20+ times. When Don Knotts left it wasn’t the same.
But I can say with 100% certainty...only one black woman ever appeared in the show. And she was a part of the crowd when there a crowd scene was necessary. Only one black guy ever had a speaking part. And he played a retired football star who coached Opie’s team in a color episode. The show ran for 8 years.
The lack of black people (or any non-Caucasian people) in a small NC mountain town like Mayberry seems accurate to me. I don’t remember any non-WASPs in Mayberry either. Didn’t they always have to go to Mount Pilot to eat at a Chinese restaurant? Mount Pilot had the demographic diversity.
“Violence” - must have been Ernest T. Bass throwing rocks through windows.
It casts cross dressers in a bad light. :)
It is for me! That is one of the most hilarious movies ever made. They poke at EVERYONE in that movie.
[[[Psycho? I can’t even fathom what they could be talking about in that one.]]]
The psychotic transgender angle.
Clearly there are more than a few race-obsessed (i.e., racist) people among the TCM staff.
This craziness began when Canada banned the playing of Dire Straits’ “Money For Nothing” because it contained this quatrain:
(warning: will upset those poisoned by political correctness)
“That little faggot with the earring and the makeup
Yeah, buddy, that’s his own hair
That little faggot’s got his own jet airplane
That little faggot, he’s a millionaire!”
Suddenly, it became illegal to play that verse of the song and the record label quickly released an edited version which is what you’ll hear any time the song is played.
What’s ironic in all of this is that Mark Knopfler was not criticizing homosexuals. He was mocking an appliance store employee who was telling his co-workers how these weird-looking emaciated rock stars (like Prince and Boy George) were actually getting rich selling their music. It had nothing at all to do with homosexuals and yet the homosexual lobby, fearful their tender ears might be singed, demanded the song be banned - and got their wish.
This was the beginning of the modern “cancel culture” movement that is now banning Dr. Seuss, etc.

Oh yes, big time.
I have never seen Psycho (gasp!), but as I understand it, a male character dressed as a woman and killed someone. According the the warning police, This is a harmful stereotype for transgenders. Really.
“Everywhere is freaks and hairies Dykes and fairies, tell me, where is sanity? Tax the rich, feed the poor 'Til there are no rich no more
I'd love to change the world But I don't know what to do So I'll leave it up to you”
I think 100% of the movies have content that can be labeled “sexist.”
Likewise any teevee programming. 100% of it has sexist content.
