This craziness began when Canada banned the playing of Dire Straits’ “Money For Nothing” because it contained this quatrain:
(warning: will upset those poisoned by political correctness)
“That little faggot with the earring and the makeup
Yeah, buddy, that’s his own hair
That little faggot’s got his own jet airplane
That little faggot, he’s a millionaire!”
Suddenly, it became illegal to play that verse of the song and the record label quickly released an edited version which is what you’ll hear any time the song is played.
What’s ironic in all of this is that Mark Knopfler was not criticizing homosexuals. He was mocking an appliance store employee who was telling his co-workers how these weird-looking emaciated rock stars (like Prince and Boy George) were actually getting rich selling their music. It had nothing at all to do with homosexuals and yet the homosexual lobby, fearful their tender ears might be singed, demanded the song be banned - and got their wish.
This was the beginning of the modern “cancel culture” movement that is now banning Dr. Seuss, etc.
“Everywhere is freaks and hairies Dykes and fairies, tell me, where is sanity? Tax the rich, feed the poor 'Til there are no rich no more
I'd love to change the world But I don't know what to do So I'll leave it up to you”
