Yeah we were thinking we could find a cheaper way. Go with something other than Kraftmade. Their stuff is nice but you pay for it. I think I’ll get some numbers from other places as well. But the cost has definitely gone up from five years ago.
We could make do with the old cabinets but I don’t know if it would just end up looking more hideous trying to hide them under some pretty granite.
Thanks marmolade! One thing I will miss in the old house is the canning kitchen. And the canning storage room, an entire room just filled with shelves. That house was definitely better for prepping, with a generator, and a well.
How are things going with you?
Apparently they haven’t close since Harry gave up his royalty and moved out of the country. Then there’s the Oprah interview.
“ mumble something under my breath lol.”
That’s allowed :-) as long as you’re not throwing things out the window at him!!
How is your Internet today? Glad to see you are finding a way to make it on here. I hope you are feeling OK!
That’s beautiful. I’m heartbroken for you. I really enjoyed your stories about going to the cottage. I always felt like I was vicariously having a little vacation myself.
💕🙏💕🙏
Sounds like a win-win living at the farm.
When my plans blow up, I just figure it wasn’t meant to be. After the tears, of course.
Exactly! Like, I’ve got Plan A, Plan B, and Plan C for retirement. All depending on the economy at the time. But all my plans may be out the window due to my helping take care of a friend with mental health and intellectual disabilities. If he’s still in the picture when it comes time for my retirement, then all plans are out the window.
I was watching a prepper video last night that was talking about all the changes people might have to adjust to in the future. One of which was multi-generational housing or doing the ‘Golden Girls’ type of thing. So you’re just a head of the curve. No coincidences!! ;)
I admit, the ‘Golden Girls’ plan would be best for me on paper, but you’ve got to have the right mix of people to do that.
I miss your canning kitchen too. I was living there vicariously through your posts.
lol, I just made a similar comment to you.
LIVE BLOG: 8 people dead after active shooter incident at FedEx facility in Indianapolis
Now that the weather is warming up and plants starting to come up, I’m torn on where to spend my time. I have inside projects I’d like to tackle, but love being outside and am anxious to get started out there.
I need to go to basement and move some things around in the laundry so hubby can take a look at the washer. Its starting to act up. Then will head outside this afternoon to do some clean up from winter.
I haven’t canned anything for a couple of years. I did check out the canning section the other day at the farm store and sure enough, as reported, they were out of lids except for a couple of boxes of the tattler ones. They had a sign posted that due to demand there were limits of 2 on sanitizing wipes, 2 kinds of ammo, and canning lids. LOL It tells you what’s important to people right now.
Seems like these events happen whenever gun control bills are on the agenda.
Labor leader: Union workers buying new cars, ‘remodeling their homes’ after Biden pension bailout
The $86 billion bailout for failing union-managed, multiemployer pensions was part of Biden’s $1.9 trillion coronavirus stimulus bill
On Thursday, Walden applauded Biden and the Democrat-led Congress for passing the rescue funding for the struggling union pensions. Walden said union members were making new purchases as soon as they heard that their pensions were saved.
“Treasury’s going to get taxes out of that right off the top, you know, back into the IRS, and then we’re going to continue spending our money,” Walden said. “We’re too old to save, and we don’t make enough to save so we put it back in. I can tell you just the start of this how many of my friends went out and bought new cars as soon as they heard that their pensions are going to be saved. And not only new cars, they’ve stepped up, they’ve picked up remodeling their homes, some of them are looking at homes rather than looking to sell their homes.
Walsh said Biden thought the $86 billion pension bailout was a “good fit” for the $1.9 trillion coronavirus stimulus bill “because it was about relief for families and people who were hurting through no fault of their own.”
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are currently 14.3 million members of public and private unions in the U.S. Walsh estimated that the $86 billion pension bailout would help 10.8 million retired and active union workers.
Payback for support and donations.
One thing I’ve read about other people doing to save money is to order just the cabinet doors and having someone build the cases. Don’t know what possible cost difference it would be. But a thought.

A witness to the Indianapolis FedEx shooting says a worker went to their car to get a gun to engage the shooter and died trying to get their gun. Imagine how this could have ended if that employee had been allowed to carry their weapon. They may have been able to end it
