But I am much older then you if you were class of 72. You would be around my daughters age.

Too many "Old" stories around here tonight. (Grump, grump)

Especially with the first wave of Easter visitors rolling in tomorrow.

I'll just drop a hint...my birthday's the same as Midway and one of my prime objectives has always been to never act my age.

...especially when I get to go play with the great grandkids. (Oldest will be 5 in June...)

Wow!!! I will have to order some. I know it made our hair so soft and shinny. I don’t understand why they quit selling it for human hair.

How did you find this? I have googled but never found it.

We had a miniature bowling set in the basement too. They don’t make them like they used to.

My brother made his own ping-pong table. He and his friend would play for hours.

I fell out of graces with the VA because of my remote worksite in CA, and the fact that getting appointment dates assigned to me, were just too far into the future to work, especially when I was going to be leaving AZ sooner rather than later. I got out of sorts with the postal system and lost some medicines in shipment, and was undisciplined causing further harm through negligence and apathy. It’s mostly on me.

With the COVID thing influencing our lives, in one way or another, I elected to get back into the swing of things with the VA, because I can count about five comorbidities in my corner of the ring.

I contacted the VA and they really stepped up to the plate. A doctor interviewed me via video conference and restored all five of my prescriptions which I had stopped taking for well over a year, and arranged for me to undergo an EKG, a nuclear stress test, and an echocardiogram, plus ordered a tetanus and shingles vaccine, and got me to agree to follow up if I was to be sent a colorectal screening.

All of this happened because I initially inquired about a COVID shot which never materialized, so I chose to make that happen on my own through a Fry’s grocery store, taking me a total of 18 hours from inquiry to the jab. I surprised myself the most by feeling froggy and leaping like I did (so impulsively) but I reconciled my behavior as taking one for the team and now I will be a guinea pig for anyone so inclined.

To answer your question, yes, I had concern that if I started hiking with a fifty or sixty pound backpack out in the wilderness, there was a chance for me to tap out, somewhat like what happended to me when I walked in a 5K race with my niece in March of 2017.

This sort of thing becomes an indelible part of one’s memory and if one has good instincts then one should follow those instincts and I had this gnawing feeling that I better get the engine checked out before going to the drag strip, which brings me to this particular moment.

I am not having any problems except for the acid reflux issue which I also had preceeding my heart attack in 2017, which turned out be more angina than heartburn because my LADA was 99% blocked. I am fairly confident that my poor habit of eating late at night and then going to bed with a stomach full of undigested food is the culprit along with a weakening esophogeal flap. Doh!

Victory is around the corner because I have demonstrated to myself that by not eating food which takes a long time to digest, but to instead consume wholesome and nutritious food in the form of juices which digest easily and are not a problem at bedtime, work. Wisely, I am drinking the juices earlier in the evening and staying off my back long enough for the body to process the juices to where there is no “backing up” at night.

The three major cardio tests that I am undergoing will tell my doctor whether I am clogged up like a storm drain after a twelve inch rain, or I am merely experiencing acid reflux, and just acid reflux.

I feel like a million dollars otherwise, and am still counting my lucky stars for the emergency room doctor, police, paramedics, and Grand Canyon University students that responded when I went down back in 2017, and saved my life! Woot! Woot!

That’s me! Those are my skates, s&sf! And my legs! And I had a dress like that! I just don’t recognize that sofa lol.

I know those are NOT my legs/knees....my knees had perpetual skinned scabs on them.

I thought skinned knees were just a part of life, growing up....and, that I’d always have them.

Luckily.....they magically disappeared around middle school :-)

I remember Red rover, red rover.....let Judy come over.

What about playing Marco Polo, at the pool?

We were at a movie theatre and the film broke.....remember that....film??? lol....anyway....while sitting in the darkened theatre...waiting for the projectionist to reload the broken film.... a kid yelled “Marco!”

EVERYONE instinctively replied, “Polo!”

Ha!

Girlfriends gave me one of those for one of my milestone Bdays :-)

I haven’t ever used it.....I need to get it out and plug it in....see if it works.

Same color case. I have no idea about the cap....as....I’ve never opened it!

Oh Jane....how awful. How did you function without knees?

;)

Fun times going down memory lane! So much in common, our countries.

Nope.....never had a wig hat.

In fact....that is the first wig hat I believe I’ve ever seen :-)

Mother had several wigs, though! Loved playing with them.

Never heard of Marco Polo, other than the explorer. I didn’t know it was a game. There’s another issue I’ll need to bring up with my therapist. No Dippety-Do and no Marco Polo. How did I make it this far?

Oh....they (skinned knees) worked great....eventually built up callouses, I think.

Hopping fences and climbing trees were NO problem :)

Then, one day....they magically turned in to ‘young lady’ knees.

Amazing how nature (God) works!

I remember Dippity Do.

Our babysitter had thick, curly hair and would make me curl her hair on YUGE rollers/OJ cans....with a ‘dip’ of the comb into that stuff, for every curler. YUGE bobby pins, to hold the curlers in.

She slept in those things!!!

Ouch!!

She needed that hair dryer, upthread :-)

I googled cream rinse or maybe creme rinse; can’t remember now. LOL

I will add...even though it looks the same, I would try to find it locally or a smaller bottle. I’d hate for you to spend $40 and then hate it. Or find it cheaper now you have a name.

That being said, I don’t imagine it would hurt your hair. That’s how Mane & Tail shampoo got started, right? LOL

Hmmm, sounds like a little exploitation going on back then. Your sitter was paid to put the kids she was sitting to use rolling her hair? That doesn’t sound right lol.

Thank YOU Jemian for asking about the rituxan treatment.

I am not under any rituxan treatment.

The use of the word nuclear is associated with a technique that is apparently safer or less stressful than the traditional treadmill stress test is, but accomplishes the same purpose using a “medicinal nuclear liquid chemical?”

It is a one-time procedure.

I’m told that I will be radioactive for the better part of the day and to stay away from little children. LOL Weird eh?

I’m supposed to bring a caffeinated beverage with me and drink it after the procedure. I guess it works like an antidote.

The idea is that my cardiovascular system will radiate one way, where it is healthy and clear, and where it’s not it will be dull or dim in comparison. I’m pumped to get some meta data on the ticker.

On second thought, I think that in addition to the radioactive aspect, the arteries may undergo some kind of loading by being constricted, which will simulate the heart working physically under stress.

The medical staff may be able to medically/chemically undo the constriction in a few seconds if I start tapping out, unlike an execise induced reaction. I’ll find out tomorrow and if I make it through the process I’ll be happy to tell everybody all about it, and I guess if I don’t... this time- no news is bads news. ;0)

If I had a cat I would post: my cat has sadz. LOL

I suppose if my heart’s arteries are clogged up enough, the powers that be might just move me into the assembly point where someone will administer a stent. Who knows? I got two stents in 2012, and one in 2017. I can attest to their proficiency and they beat getting carved open like a Christams duck.
