Needing to vent:
I just found out that a senior in our church had her daughter sue for “guardianship” and that superseded her will.
About 3 years ago this lady called me and asked me to be her executor of her estate so her daughter (that kept borrowing money and never paid it back) would not be able to squander (her word) the hard earned money that would be available after she died.
I said what ever she and her attorney wrote, I would abide by her wishes.
She passed and an estate was never opened so I figured that she chose another route than she had spoken to me about, BUT, I just found out her daughter filed for guardianship, when this lady went in the hospital with the flu, was awarded guardianship by the court, sold her home and contents to a house flipper for $150,000, he has it on the market for $350,000.
I know her contents were worth several thousand, she had silver, china, crystal and top of the line furniture.
So it looks like the daughter took the money and ran.
Sorry, I’m just so frustrated, looks like there is a hole in the system for seniors.

He wasn’t very tall. Only 5’6” One time a guy who was over 6’ wanted to date me but I was very uncomfortable with someone that tall.
I never go anywhere that I have to dress up. First time I went to church with son and DIL I wore a dress, but everyone else was casual and jeans.

Have you talked to the attorney she was having make her will? It’s probably too late but there might can be action taken against the daughter. But she would probably spend all the money fighting it in court.
I only know enough about guardianship/conservatorship to be dangerous. I’ve looked into being appointed guardian/conservator of a friend who has mental and intellectual issues. At least in our state, the person being placed in that classification has to be seen by a third party who reports back to the judge and there’s other steps. Like, we have to get a letter from all known family members (including advertising for them!) saying they don’t want to act as the guardian before they will appoint an outside person (me) to that position. Even though that’s what my friend wants.
But you’re right-it’s easy for seniors to be taken advantage of. There’s agencies with each state that help with such things (even acting as conservator if there’s no one else) but most people don’t know how to find those services.
My grandson’s wife may not be a housekeeper but at least she takes care of the kids and she definitely doesn’t care a thing about clothes. She wears jeans and a black top all the time. My grandson is so mild mannered he just takes it all in stride.

I know you were and it was but I just love that song so much. I watched the Andy Williams show all the time. Ed Sullivan, Tony Bennett etc; Those were the days when watching TV was really entertaining.
I don’t have any skin in that game, I just looked it up because it’s in the panhandle.
