First view of it’s surrounding on the Red Planet.
How long before Bernie with his mittens is photoshopped on Mars?
Your graphic reminds me of my kid.
The month my son was born, NASA launched a satellite called the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO). It’s published mission length was two years.
That son developed an interest in space and went to college to become an Astronautical Engineer.
When he was 20, He got a college job at NASA as a data technician with the 20 year old SOHO Mission, you know, the one that was supposed to last for 2 years.
In the interview, he actually said “I was born for this job.”
That’s a great story.
Well I KNOW there is steel cable. I guess the spiral does give it some “give” when it comes to holding up tons of bridge steel. I’m thinking of something that might be useful for tying up stuff around a Martian camp site!
Although I guess with the big gloves they have to wear they won’t be tying any knots up there. I guess anything like that (say several cables to secure an antenna mast or a sensor) will require some sort of drill or hammer to place an anchor in the rock/”dirt” and then some wire cable and a crimping system.
It will be interesting to see how the helicopter thing works out. That looks pretty interesting and will sure aid them in their searches for interesting things to investigate.
A phenomenal accomplishment and a testament to the U.S. and its use of technology........Keep it going!
lol
The top two pictures. Actually, the parachute had been jettisoned by then and the retro rockets were controlling the descent.
Love it
I always loved space stuff. I recall doing a report on the Voyagers back in middle school when they had launched.
40+ years later my daughter was also interested in space stuff and astronomy and we read and researched the news of the Voyagers leaving our solar system and STILL sending back data.
IIRC they are both shut down now (or maybe just one of them?), with the hope that in some years they are going to try to “awaken” it to see if they can???
Oops - I just read where they had been shut down temporarily, but as of Jan. 2020 they are still on and sending back data. They were supposed to last 4 to 5 years!
While my daughter likes space/astronomy, her academic strengths were in other areas.
Bernie posing as Hari Seldon?
Post #32 ...Bwahahaha ... I was waiting for Bernie to show up!

All that money to visit the Arizona desert in space. 😄
Not a tree in sight!
Awsomeness!
Lucifer knows!!! He tells the so-called scientists how to guess like they do...
Looks like South Dakota!!
