Beto O'Rourke is back is the spotlight as Texas continues to face a statewide crisis.
Hundreds of thousands of Texans remain without power Thursday morning as millions more deal with burst pipes and other consequences of unprecedented winter weather. O'Rourke, the former 2020 Democratic presidential and 2018 Texas Senate candidate, has been making the TV rounds to call out the Republicans who've shifted the blame for the power shortages — and is organizing to check in on senior citizens throughout it all.
On Wednesday night, O'Rourke announced he and volunteers had made more than 150,000 wellness calls to seniors throughout the state. And in an interview with CNN, he called out Republicans, including Gov. Greg Abbott (R), who have inaccurately placed most of the blame for the power failures on Texas' renewable energy sources.

If you’re that smart you can do it without me.
“If you’re that smart you can do it without me.“
I’m so smart I was in the top 16 of my high school class.
Of course I was in a class of 16
Idon’t have a problem with escorting the daughters, but couldn’t he have escorted them to someplace American?
I must have missed him - I was out shoveling snow for three hours.
Beto wouldn't have been out helping anyone if a light bulb hadn't gone off in some aides head and said we have a great photo op here. All you people praising Beto just remember, he has one major goal, destroy all Conservatives and the things they support. Guns, God, freedom of speech, legal immigration. You get the idea. Screw Beto.
You screwed up by aiding the democrats and an idiot like Beto.
Find somewhere else to help the democrats.
You asked what was Cruz going to do?
Well it looks like he was going to get to the bottom of what happened:
“My staff and I are in constant communication with state and local leaders to get to the bottom of what happened in Texas,” he said in a statement on Thursday, referring to the power outages and, in some cases, loss of water.
My response was about Beta calling for organizing welfare checks. Not about the grid issue. And no, the operation of the grid is not the responsibility of the politicians either, it's up to the owner/operators. The laws regarding the grid is up to the politicians. Outside of that, they still can't do much, except for call for investigations as to what went wrong, or call for legislation to get out of the way of operating efficiently.
“If the state needs federal help, they can ask for it. Until then, federal agencies, government, politicians stay out.”
You keep making the point that Cruz should have stayed away from this issue.
Funny. Ted himself thinks otherwise:
“My staff and I are in constant communication with state and local leaders to get to the bottom of what happened in Texas,” he said in a statement on Thursday, referring to the power outages and, in some cases, loss of water.
Facts are facts and you should examine many thoughtful posts here regarding the roles and responsibilities of the federal and state governments.
CDS runs deep in you.
Oh look. Breaking news. Cruz himself has now admitted he made a mistake. Perhaps you can fire off an angry email to Ted telling him he’s a liar and that he did not make a mistake.

As per Jim’s admonishments (You must have missed this): “This means leave off the the cussing and swear words. No f-bombs. No c-words, no sh-words, etc. NOT EVEN MASKED.”

“Liar?”
Where did that come from?
A “lie” is a misrepresentation of what you know to be true.
Saw none of that by Cruz, me or many others.
We deal in truth and facts.
Apparently the sheep are unaware of the limits of the federal government. The governor runs the state, only the governor can ask for federal help.
It can be offered (think Katrina), but until invited, federal government has no power to unilaterally dispatch federal assets unless to repel an invasion.
Only the dems and msm want the federal government to send in FEMA without being invited.
Why do so many just ignore the fact that there is nothing he, or the federal government can do except get in the way?
Only the ignorant (dems and msm) bleat about Cruz not on the front lines, knocking on doors. As I said, he would only be an intrusion into something he has no role in doing anything.
Have a nice evening. Buh-bye.
I thought Ted would be better about optics? Guess not.
So we should be mad at Beto, a person who is not an elected politician, for advocating for fellow citizens. And give Cruz, one of two federal office holders from Texas a pass?
Makes no sense.
You are right about him being a legislator (not a governor or other executive position). The problem is the average American is a bit of an idiot and the media likes it that way. So they are going to use this against him. That’s the reality we have to live with if we have any chance of getting and keeping good people in office. Optics matter.
Look. Cruz is a dad. His daughter’s school is closed. She asked if she and her friends could go to Cancun. He said OK and took his daughter and her friends to Cancun for a couple of days. Beto probably decided to take advantage of Cruz’s trip and attached himself to some libtard cause. Who would I rather have representing me? Cruz, by a football field length. I cannot understand why most people think this was a “drastic blunder”. There may well have been other Texans who left town to get away from the weather, but you didn’t hear about them. Beto is about as genuine and deeply concerned with the welfare of citizens as a snake is in being your friend. All he did was try to make some political hay out of a BIG NOTHING.
Beto is a leader? Are you kidding me? Beto is a gun grabbing, high taxing, let the illegals all in libtard snake. Ted Cruz is one of the few Republicans who made a strong case for throwing out the fake "second impeachment" and other conservative issues.
OK, you can go back to whatever you've been smoking.
I cannot understand why most people think this was a “drastic blunder”.

I’m sorry you don’t understand. Ted himself understands. He admitted it was a mistake. It’s pretty much obvious to anybody.
