Your favourite Rush memories
Youtube ^ | 18th February 2021 | Ennis85

I recently came across this clip from the Clinton Years of Rush calling out said President's crocodile tears during the Ron Brown memorial service which did bring a much needed smile to my face.

Now that we're looking back on his life, I thought would be a good time to ask people here for their favourite Rush moments that hold dear to them. Whether he made you laugh or stoked passion in you

Found this interesting gem -- a 2-hour video of Rush doing a live radio broadcast from WABC 770 AM during the Reagan administration:

FLASHBACK: Rush Limbaugh Show on WABC New York (1990)

He never yelled at or insulted anyone who called.
He told jokes like this one: Rush Limbaugh: Some TV newscasts can be momentarily mistaken for Victoria’s Secret specials. In an apparent attempt to capture channel-surfing male viewers, stations have hired attractive female anchors, often outfitting them in attire that emphasizes their sexuality." These guys watch but they couldn't tell you what was just reported.
I'll tell you when I first noticed this. I lived in Kansas City back in the seventies and one local station there went out and made a big deal out of some new weather girl that they had hired, and I gotta tell you, when this woman stood on the East Coast and faced the West Coast, the first state you saw was Missouri.

Cut and paste from a different thread:

I don’t recall when exactly it was, but Ted Kennedy was on a jetty, I believe, and someone came close to drowning. A boat came near the jetty to rescue the person, and Ted was warning them away from the rocks. Rush made a crack about the irony of the captain of the USS Oldsmobile standing on shore, trying to keep a boat from running aground.

OMG!!! That was hilarious. What I got to watch so far. I wasn’t watching him back then, so it’s nice to get context. I also didn’t remember him being quite that...er....large. Fun stuff.

I go all the way back to Sacramento in 1988. I knew where Rio Linda was and drove through there occasionally. I often remember thinking, “Oh, he mentioned that care on the blocks in the driveway on the show last week...”. I was a rock n rolling long hair metalhead and classic rock n roll loving teenager, and we always listened in the kitchen in the morning before whatever job I might been going to. I always enjoyed being a conservative while not looking like the “typical” one, and then watching the reactions of people who might be stupid enough to assume I was a stupid liberal because I dressed like a rock n roller. (Most of my friends were exactly the same too.)

We all loved Rush and he really shaped my thinking ever since. He was such a funny and witty man and explained my own thoughts better than I could at times. I had always thought the same forever, and it was so wonderful to hear a guy on the radio that said exactly what I thought. I just assumed I was correct, and I didn’t know there were so many horrible liberal retards out there until Rush brought it to us just how horrible and disgusting these people are.

I used to watch the TV show with my dad as well - what a hoot. I’ve been listening ever since and I remember every one of these great memories posted here.

If you listen carefully, you will hear ol’ drunken Uncle Ted say that Republicans don’t support “the right to earn less”.

Recall some of his adventures with punkin the cat.

Thought I heard him say once, "I love the women's movement, especially when I'm behind it."

I was a huge fan, but he wasn't without his faults, either, as you point out.

I still remember the day someone was trying to explain to him that inflation was somewhat hidden by manufacturers like food packagers selling you slightly less product and charging the same price. The price per unit goes up, but the overall price stays the same, so it looks like there has been no price inflation. He kept saying that that has nothing to do with inflation. His understanding of economics was exceptional. I didn't understand how he couldn't get that point.

That, and the day the Congress passed the "assault weapons ban" in 1994. He said "Something huge is going on in Washington today", at which point I perked up and paid attention. He then went on to talk about some obscure thing that to this day I don't remember.

I was HOT, because he could have stopped that bill if he had wanted just by mentioning it to his listeners. He didn't even give it passing notice.

All that said, though, IMO he did ultimately save America from itself, or at least postpone the Apocalypse.

When Rush said that the reasons why Democrats were trying to get The Ten Commandments removed from everywhere was because it was a list of what THEY were doing and didn’t want to be reminded.

When we traveled you never knew where you could catch Rush on the closest radio station. This was between the times when there was internet, but no cellular. I’d get online and find the radio stations where Rush was, and put them on the paper map along our route so we wouldn’t have to search with the dial hoping to hear The Pretenders or Rush’s voice.

Now, you just grab your smart phone while traveling and the info is at your fingertips.

Rush introduced me to Weemsco Tuna. So delish. Still buy to this day. Once you pick through the medical waste, it’s a meal fit for a king.

The Indispensable Man Rush Limbaugh, 1951-2021

This is a wonder tribute by Mark Steyn that mentions Limbaugh's humor.

When I first tuned in to Limbaugh over twenty years ago I expected to hear the angry, rude, bellicose guy I was incessantly warned about.

Then as I listened I realized that Limbaugh was anything but.

Steyn captures that in his column.

My favorite memories of Rush have to do with his ability to make you think while laughing your fool head off.

God bless you, Rush.
