Step away from the omelette: Eating just half an egg a day increases your risk of DEATH by 7% - unless you ditch the yolks, researchers claim

Boiled, fried, scrambled or in an omelette, whole eggs pose a threat to health and eating more of them increases your risk of death, a study claims.

Researchers found eating just half a whole egg — which includes the yolk and the white — increases the likelihood of dying by seven per cent.

Risk of death increases by a further seven per cent for every half an egg on top of this, so a person eating one egg a day has at 14 per cent greater chance of death than someone who avoids the food.

Chinese researchers who led the study believe high fat and cholesterol levels in eggs are to blame.

They warned that people should use only the whites or switch to healthier egg substitutes, which lower the risk of dying.

Substituting an equivalent amount of nuts or legumes for half a whole egg reduced death rates by up to a third. Poultry, dish or dairy products had a similar effect.

Like when they claimed people were getting Coronavirus from frozen imported pork products.

They just didn’t want to import stuff.

I’ve eaten three eggs (generally fried), a bagel, lox, cream cheese, three cups of coffee, and a glass of 2% milk for several decades now.

My most common snack is a boiled egg or two.

(Eggs are cheap kosher protein and easy to brown bag, which I’ve done most of my life.)

For an undead guy, my 600lb deadlift and 2 mile jog are impressive.

More blathering 1970s horseshit from anti-protein/fat harpies-morons.

You don't get fat from fat. You get fat from sugar and carbs. The cholesterol in your cardio-vascular system is produced by the body - it doesn't come from the food you eat.

Protein and fat are essential for health and brain function - especially for children.

Hopefully, the veganists will follow their own advice and have underdeveloped children - so our kids can crush them and weed them out of the species.

Usual baloney. Dietary cholesterol has long since been shown to be a false issue.

“Researchers”??? Hardly. All science today is paid for and specific results required by those that pay.

Our analysis suggests that higher consumption of eggs (more than 1 egg/day) was not associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease, but was associated with a significant reduction in risk of coronary artery disease.

Clinical Significance

• Consumption of more than one egg per day was not associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease.
• Consumption of more than one egg per day was associated with a reduction in the risk of coronary artery disease.
• Consumption of more than one egg per day was not associated with an increased risk of stroke.

I just read the article. They gave a bunch of people a questionnaire in the 90s and recently counted how many died then scanned the 16 year old questionnaire to see if they could find something that might maybe possibly link them.

One of the most ridiculous studies I’ve ever heard of. Pure junk science.

Oh, here we go again. Eggs are bad, butter is bad, bacon is bad, everything is bad. As long as the government gives these twits research money, they’re gonna find SOMETHING bad.

The number one cause of death is - life.

Egg whites do have their uses in conjunction with other ingredients but not on their own.

Given the track record of “this food is bad for you” advice, this latest report would mean we stop eating egg whites and go for the yolks exclusively.

Agree.

Had several aunts who ate fried eggs with BACON, for breakfast, EVERY morning.....and, all lived well into their 90s.

Can’t remember the comedian, but the bit was: “They say that smoking takes five years off your life. But really, it’s the last five years, and they suck anyway.”
