This could have been in NYC but we all know what happened there.
Was wondering the same thing.
Babble.
Sprawling 2.5-acre campus
1 acre = 43500 square feet, so 2.5 acres = 108,900 square feet. If the three buildings took up the entire 2.5 acres (which they don't in the picture), with 22 stories you would have 2.4 million square feet. It's bigger on the inside than the outside! Amazon has broken physics and geometry.
Is this the result of all the money AOC LOST for the State of New York?
It’s ugly, but GOOD! I’ll live with it. :)
We should all keep sending her pictures of it, LOL!
I used to work for a firm that did Testing and Balancing of HVAC systems. We did some HUGE projects - ‘The Kohl Center’ (UW Madison sports arena) and ‘The Mistake by the Lake’ which is really the ‘Monona Terrace’ designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.
I’m gonna see if my old boss wants to tackle the Testing and Balancing of THAT monstrosity, LOL!
Don't you know? Global warming only happens in rural areas, red states, and red counties.
Well, they can do it without me.
Hopefully my will then be able to walk to work at AWS.
I was thinking the same. What an achievement standing her ground that 12,500 jobs can go somewhere else. What an idiot she is. Her constituents are as well for voting for her.
While I think the use of landscaped spirals is pretty cool, as an engineer this is not a practical design. What do plants need to grow? Water of course, but unlike regular outdoor landscaping, this building will require systems to prevent the water from running directly through the soil so that plant can uptake the water as well as to prevent it from hitting the concrete underlayment and racing down the slope. Plus the trees roots need to have enough soil to provide an anchor for the tree to keep them from being blown over constantly.
But when money is no object I guess one can do what they want. My guess is the building maintenance folks will be pulling their hair out.
It states three 22 story building on 2.5 acres! Seems a bit small for 3 buildings, what about parking?
It looks almost Babylonian?
Construction is already underway on two office towers in the Metropolitan Park section of the development as part of the HQ2 project's first phase. That area of the Arlington-based headquarters will create 2.1 million square feet of office space and about 65,000 square feet of retail space and other community features. The 6.2-acre Metropolitan Park site is bounded by 13th Street South, new South Elm Street, South Eads Street and 15th Street South.
It will be nestled near, but not quite on the Potomac, nestled between the Pentagon and the Reagan Airport. Cute.
It will decorate nicely for Christmas.
This is what AOC chased out of New York
Its upside down and I agree with you. A screw design in a screwed up city that screws the people.
