In a court filing late Monday, Cici's blamed its Chapter 11 filing on the "unpredictable and unprecedented scale" of the pandemic, which decimated its bottom line and customer demand because it relies heavily on its dining rooms.
The Texas-based company has more than 300 locations in 26 states — a sharp decrease from the roughly 650 restaurants it owned about a decade ago. Cici's dropped "pizza" from its name in 2015 and expanded its menu to focus on its unlimited soup, salad and dessert options. The company was bought by Arlon, a food and agriculture investment firm, a year later.

Same here. My daughter is now 34!.............................
1. Preheat oven to 350.
2. Cook Frozen Pizza for 15 minutes until done.
3. Throw away the pizza and eat the cardboard box. It'll taste better.
I think PJ has found that DIGIORNO pizzas are one brand of frozen pizzas tasty enough to live on, full time.

“In retrospect, a fatal error when nobody is eating out at restaurants.”
In our area, pickup and eat at home/???? seems to be the winner.
A 50 something man we know, who spent about 20 years in the high end restaurant business has a lot of friends in that business. He is always suggesting to everyone to support those dead end businesses by eating there or via charities.
We keep telling him that is like supporting dying businesses in dying malls. It is time for those people to move on. We have a couple of high end take out/eat at home businesses which are doing great.
We have increased our monthly donations to the Salvation Army and our church’s local charity efforts.
What took so long?
Seriously, those business would probably be better off just closing, so they wouldn’t have to pay expenses while having little to no income, but they are all locked in to commercial leases that are going to be multi-year contracts. That expense will keep piling up no matter what they do, so there’s no easy escape hatch for most of them.
The best they can do is lay off most of the staff and operate with a skeleton crew, limited menu and just try to make whatever small income they can to try and stop the bleeding.
Yeah I’ve always noticed Asian restaraunts I’ve been in don’t seem to hold hygiene in high regard and it doesn’t matter if its a little takeout joint or a high-end Japanese steakhouse.
You can tell a lot about a resteraunt by how clean the bathrooms are and most of the Asian ones I’ve been in leave a little to be desired to say the least.
My dad spent a year in Korea in the military, 5 in Japan and did 2 tours of Viet Nam....not only couldn’t you DRAG him into an Asian resteraunt, he wouldn’t even discuss it. It wasn’t even open for debate....just a flat NOPE!
“Once Covid is over” is starting to sound a lot like “once I get into shape.”
An entire wall of cockroaches..My stepdad always shivered when he told that story...
Their pizza looked bad, even in their own commercials.
“You should never eat at any “buffet” place period. There are just so many things wrong about the buffet dining concept.”
My Mother, her sisters and a brother were teens during the great depression, and they loved buffets over any restaurant.
My sibling, cousins and I finally gave up and would take them to whatever buffet they wanted to go to. My mother gave up her driver’s license, when she turned 85. She kept her 4 passenger Olds sedan for trips to buffets with 4 other seniors at their retirement home. They bought lunch for the licensed driver.
They “buffeted” at least once a week. The buffets would let them take home a lot of “leftovers” for their bridge games after lunch or for a different breakfast the next day.
They all lived into their late 80’s.
Some of the Asian food looks good in You Tube videos.

lol!....................My wife and I and my daughter and grandson, who was 2 at the time, ate at a local Chinese restaurant for lunch one Saturday.
The boy, being a two year old was being rambunctious as boys will do, hit the aluminum window frame by the booth we were in and about a million roaches came scurrying out from under it!.
We have never eaten there again..........................
One visit to a CICI’s is more than enough. Unless you have a large family on a tight budget.. in which case you can let the kids who will largely eat anything and think it’s good can carb load themselves Into a nearly diabetic coma and parents can choke down something.
Bad Pizza was the root cause.
If “pizza” isn’t made by Italians in NJ, then it ain’t pizza.
The trick at Cici’s is special order your own pizza which you can do with the buffet at no extra cost. We like the very thin crust. I order extra cheese about 5 meats and 5 veggies including fresh tomatoes off the salad. It’s the best economy pizza around. You need to go when there’s not a lot of kids around.
Oh don’t get me wrong I love Asian....I just like to be, well....careful..
