Found her(hound mix) in a rescue shelter 12 years ago. She was appx. 2 years old by the vet when we got her. So she is appx. 14 years old.
Sorry ti hear that. Always a tough decision fir sure.
I had to make that decision just 2 months ago.
I feel your pain.
Don’t be sorry. I just went through this same thing with my 14 year old. You might not realize it now because (I won’t sugar coat it) it’s going to hurt a lot, but as time goes by you will realize how lucky you are to go through this together.
It’s the price we pay for all the joy they bring into our lives. I’ve lost dogs to cancer, heart attacks, other things, but to lose them to old age is a whole new experience. You can hold them and talk to them of all the grand memories you shared together, you can feel their love and they can feel yours. They know it’s hard for you. Just keep telling her how much you love her and how glad you are that she came into your life.
Don’t call the vet. They rip people off regularly, let alone in death. Hundreds of $$ and nothing to do. Let her die at home surrounded by loved ones.
My sympathies. I have had to put down a number of our four footed friends. It hurts every time. Years ago I had to put down my Black Lab. Miss him to this day.
Sympathies. Pray for a fix by vet. Terribly gut wrenching...I speak from very sorry grief stricken experience. Godspeed.
If you have a good relationship with your vet and if you don’t live too far away, he/she may come to your home at this hard time. Mine did. Thank you Dr. Bell.
My cat, Fat Mike, passed to his just deserves five years ago and not a day passes by that I don’t miss that dumb bastard.
Prayers up.
we are in the same place. our adopted rescue Chihauhau has a mass on the hind quarter that keeps getting bigger. He can barely walk, we have him on pain meds, prolly looking at a week, not much more, Remmington is his name, came with that moniker. A wonderful companion.
Prayers 💞
Great companions
Sometimes they do not die on their own, and they suffer too much.
It is always hard to let one go like that.
Mine is 16 this year and I see her failing.
Sorry to hear of your companion that way.
I had to do it with my 13 year old dog with chronic kidney failure last summer. I probably waited two weeks longer than I should have, but in the end, he went so peacefully while my face was next to his. I still grieve for him, just the same.

God Bless you and your dog.
Your dog was blessed to have your love.

14 years is a good life for a dog. Thats a hard loss, they really do become family.
I’ve hated saying good-bye to my dogs when they pass on.
This song is hard to listen to, after the death of a good dog, but I love this song so much....

On the bright side, at least she had good owners and a good life
and wont have to live under communism
I agree with you. We don’t put our loved ones down because we realize that death is a part of life and the leaving though difficult is necessary. There is much to learn through this time of passing.
