Followers of the extremist ideology QAnon saw their hopes once again dashed Wednesday as President Donald Trump left Washington on the final day of his presidency, without any of the climactic scenes of violence and salvation that the sprawling set of conspiracy theories had preached for years would come.
As Trump boarded Air Force One for his last presidential flight to Florida, many QAnon adherents - some of whom had earlier this month stormed the Capitol in a siege that left at least two QAnon devotees dead and others in jail - began to wonder whether they'd been duped all along.

You are telling me there hasn’t been a litmus test on this site for the past two months. If you were not lock step with some of the most bizzare theories you would be decried as a volunteer Biden Sex Kitten.
Hopefully some sanity will return here.
And stop being so sensitive. Not every rhetorical response is directed at “you.” We have to stop that as well.
That’s the point. Q wasn’t needed. But my guess is it allowed for another avenue to do it. Pile on if you will.
They did. I thought about that after I sent my post.
Q would hardly exist if Trump had not been involved in proving its legitimacy. The evidence that he was involved would be indisputable in a court of law. Not that you would ever consider the evidence. What ever Q is you can thank Trump for it. Trump who also never once said that Q was fake.
Bump.
Couldn’t have said it better. Reading this thread and the comments therein is a refreshing relief. A relief FR hasn’t been completely taken over by Reddit rejects.
And I agree with Travis’ assessment of this situation. If anything, “Q” was/is a deception campaign to make conservatives look foolish and unhinged.
Personally I believe it was/is just some kid or group of kids chuckling to themselves in their mom’s basement at how many they’ve duped over the years.
That’s the most optimistic take I can see. And anyway I’m done entertaining conspiracy theories. But it’s certainly possible what Travis wrote. So to err on the side of caution I say chuck “Q” out the window.
Not ban them because there’s enough of that from the left these days but publicly shame such nuttery. The light of truth is the best weapon against disinformation otherwise more retreats into even more shadowy realms of the Internet solve nothing. For anyone.
Many sincere and honest, though ingenuous, Trump supporters allowed themselves to be sucked into the Q thing. Being silent was a much better approach than insulting one’s supporters.
What is truth?
I believe in more conspiracy theories than most here, _but_ they are _older_ conspiracies that have been studied over time by a lot of serious folks with a lot of data.
New stuff always needs to be vetted very carefully—the old rule applies—extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
Maybe everyone is trying to guess the ending from only having watched part of the movie?
I was intrigued by the mysterious Q postings and would follow along, but had no need for or interest in a support group or cultlike nonsense and found some of the people who did to be not to my liking, so I quit. But I’m still not convinced there wasn’t a purpose and a reason people like General Flynn promoted it, if no more than to motivate people to pay attention to what was going on in the political world and to hone their research and analytical skills. Unfortunately I found more logical inconsistencies, conjecture, and fan fiction than solid logic and credible analysis.
One of the best ways of hiding a conspiracy is to promulgate a bunch of lunatic-fringe conspiracy theories.
Makes it hard for people to distinguish concerns from nonsense.
I’ve watched a family member lose her mind over this fairy tale.
I thought it was a phenomenon specific to her until I saw Lin Woods melt down.
Sometimes I wonder if those ridiculously long videos are hypnotizing people.
It’s so bizarre & unsettling.
If I ever smell a whiff of Qism in any candidates - I’ll consider them just as poisonous as liberals.
That is the weakness the Deep State used through the Q movement. Perhaps Trump, or at least some of the anti-Stop the Steal movement, were fooled. But I believe that at least some of them, like Lin Wood, were on the other side.
“ QAnon a deep state fraud? Who knew?”
Deep state or not I knew it was a fraud and a con months ago. It’s time they were shown the door here.

Whatever it is - not a lot of people seem too curious about it.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Q and Antifa are on the same side
I’d never share a fighting hole with crazy people.

Since they are using that as play book, I am thinking about ordering the book. History is good to learn.
“ I question why we are so tolerant of an enemy psyops campaign being waged on this site.”
So do I. Hit the abuse button every time one of them pops their head out of the basement. They’ll go the way of Michael Rivero.

Sicko.
Trump never said it was fake because he never, ever would offend his supporters, period. I’m sure he saw it as harmless fun.
