Readily available anti-parasite drug, Ivermectin scrutinized as COVID-19 remedy
Washington Examiner ^ | 12/18/2020 | David Hogberg, Healthcare Reporter

The anti-parasite drug ivermectin has recently garnered attention as a drug that could prevent the transmission of COVID-19 and perhaps even treat the symptoms.

The "data show that ivermectin is effectively a 'miracle drug' against COVID-19," Dr. Pierre Kory said in testimony last week in front of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.

Kory, a pulmonary and critical care specialist at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, is a member of a group of doctors calling themselves the Front Line Covid-19 Critical Care Alliance. The FLCCC Alliance has published a review of the research that it claims shows that not only can ivermectin prevent COVID-19, it can also improve outcomes for COVID-19 patients.

Yet critics are highly skeptical. Georgi Momekov, a faculty member in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Sofia in Bulgaria, said the review contains "several flaws [that] significantly limit the possibility to use it as a guide for evidence-based conclusions and practice recommendations."

Indeed, the evolution of perceptions of ivermectin as a COVID-19 remedy has in some ways copied that of hydroxychloroquine. That drug was highly touted as a possible treatment for COVID-19 after President Trump said in March he was taking it. The Food and Drug Administration even gave hydroxychloroquine a compassionate use authorization as a treatment for COVID-19. It later rescinded it after more research showed the drug was not effective at treating the virus.

But Kory claims that the case of ivermectin is different.

"That is a conclusion based on interpretation of a number of trials," Kory told the Washington Examiner. "And the magnitude of the difference between the controls and the intervention with ivermectin is dramatic and large."

Also, the disease mimics seasonal allergies, flu, and the common cold. So you start the treatment when those symptoms occur? Do you wait 72 precious hours to find out you really have it? Do you start taking the EVMS prophylaxis, protocol? I am doing that ex-Ivermectin and ex-Famotidine.

I absolutely agree. Science is never perfect, information is never complete and error-free, governments are often controlling, ill-informed and have hidden agendas and motivations (often $$$). Let patients and their doctors make informed decisions about treatment. The situation we are in is utterly ridiculous.

I am doing a whole lot of things...that will ratchet up at the first sign of something if I have been out recently

but I probably wont be able to bring myself to use horsepaste until I get more symptoms. I think I would do it if I lose taste or smell because that is a pretty clear sign

While at the Farm Store I was in a situation that had me come home and ratchet stuff up...including getting out the PVP Iodine which I normally dont do.

Have you figured out how to dilute it and precisely measure out the small dosage required?

For human use, it’s called Stromectol.

US Health Authorities Asked to Review Medical Evidence for Prevention and Early Treatment of COVID-19 with Ivermectin

Scroll down a bit on that thread until you get to the graphics which has both the protocol for prophylaxis and for infection treatments.

We were recently exposed and I really don’t want to get it, we did the vitamins and the HCQ. I was afraid to take the horse Ivermectin so I rubbed the dose for my weight on my skin.

My reasoning was that we use a pour-on for cattle so it must travel well through the skin and if I felt like I was having a bad reaction I could wash it off before I got too much.

Anyway, we didn’t get it but now all we have to do is one dose of HCQ a week just in case.

Here is a company that sells Ivermectin paste for horses for half the price that you'll find on Amazon and shipping is free if they deliver to a store and you pick it up. Just need a store nearby.

At half the price you could pay the shipping to your house and come out the same as Amazon. They seem to be jacking up prices at Amazon rather quickly too.

I keep HCQ and Ivermectin both on hand. I keep myself informed of these things...got HCQ back in February and I’ve had Ivermectin since it started to show promise some months ago.

I take a fair number of supplements and keep Quercetin around if I need it, but it has some side effects that I don’t care for, so I only use it if I feel I’ve been exposed to something.

Frankly, I thing being afraid of covid is silly, but I always inform myself and err on the side of caution.

RE: There are MDs here that believe in it and others that don’t believe in it.

If it were up to me to make the policy decision for the country, I would say — LET PHYCISIANS WHO BELIEVE IN IT BE FREE TO PRESCRIBE THE DRUG AS THEY SEE FIT.

For those who don’t believe in it, nobody is forcing you to use it. Feel free to prescribe what you want.

You certainly have my vote!!!

My Primary Care Physician seems to do everything “by the books” Not a lot of outside-the-box thinking. Don’t know if they would prescribe. Also wonder about State Licensing Boards in blue states allowing this...

It works and I have seen it being people back from the edge. But a warning to all. If you get sick DO NOT GO to a hospital that restricts this for no good reason. DO NOT GO TO AN HCA HOSPITAL. The non physician leadership has decided not to permit dispensing this medication. Even when confronted with federal RIGHT TO TRY law, they will not permit this medication from being administered. The studies demonstrate ivermectin o the notion harmful and possibly helpful (although I think it’s superior to HCQ) you must know that there are hospital chains out there that will not let physicians practice in their scope of care

Be ready to advocate for your loved ones and get them to a hospital where physicians are allowed to practice medicine.

“Also, the disease mimics seasonal allergies”

That is how/why we were exposed. My granddaughter thought she was having allergies. We were together 2 days in a row. She knew she had it when she couldn’t smell or taste. She never got very sick and none of the 30 or so people (We had a party.) who were exposed to her got it.

She felt so awful she called everyone, everyday to see how they were.

Hcq was not as you say. It appears that ivermectin is good in advanced disease. Hcq is not

Let the professionals opine on this one

I suspect after inauguration, we are going to see lots of quick discoveries and responses to Covid that were withheld while Trump was in office. And sadly we will see Biden taking credit for it, the media giving him credit for it, and too many Americans believing that lie.
