I’ll confess that I didn’t see this one coming. Much of the cable news programming currently blasting across our screens these days is celebrating the arrival of the first COVID vaccines approved for general distribution. People lining up to be the first in their state to receive it are hailed in the press like rock stars. But out in Southern California, there’s one group of people who are choosing to either delay taking the shot or simply declining entirely. Those are the nurses. CBS Los Angeles is reporting that a recent survey conducted by the UCLS Fielding School of Public Health reports that a full two-thirds of the nurses surveyed either said no or at least… not yet.
A number of local healthcare workers have reservations about the COVID-19 vaccine authorized for emergency use, according to a new survey from the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health.
“Two-thirds of the health workers that we surveyed wished to delay vaccination or not get vaccinated,” Dr. Anne Rimoin, the senior author of the study, said Monday.
She said the survey collected data from about 600 workers between mid-September and the end of October.
At least out where I live, healthcare workers are among the first being vaccinated, which kind of makes sense since so many of them are dealing with COVID patients on a daily basis. And at least based on the information being spread around by the media, you would think that these educated individuals would put the most faith in the system that developed and tested these vaccines, right? So what gives with the nurses in California?
A representative for the union covering these nurses was quick to point out that their members are not “anti-vaxxers.” 90% of them reportedly get the flu vaccine every year.

Speaking of ‘science’, a CAN of COCA-COLA has tested ‘positive’ for COVID in Austria.
The data has been published and thoroughly reviewed. Fudging facts with this level of visibility would be suicidal for either company considering the level of blowback from the public, regulators, Congress, etc. It would literally end either of them.
I'm counting on them being in it for profit. By making a safe and effective vaccine, they stand to make billions of dollars. Good. Safe and effective vaccines end the shutdowns and get everyone back to work. That will save the economy trillions of dollars in damages. Spend billions to save trillions? Any day of the week and twice on Sunday!
Exactly why I’m here: provide facts so you can make an informed choice for yourself and your family. Each individual should have the freedom to decide what is best for their own wellbeing. Only way you can do that is if you have real information available. When anyone uses misinformation or fearmongering to try and sway others, they’re effectively denying others the freedom to make an informed choice. I believe denying people that freedom is wrong.
My goal is NOT to badger anyone into taking the vaccine. If someone has all the facts in front of them and says “no thanks”, that’s perfectly fine by me. We don’t have to agree on that. My goal is to make sure no one is basing their decision on the misinformation and fearmongering being spread. Take it - don’t take it - I don’t care. But make that decision based on facts; not fiction.
I don’t blame em....
I’m not an anti-vax person, but I also don’t plan on taking it till ALL the politicians take along with about a million other libs take it. Then, let’s see what happens to em. Based on that, I might consider it, but I’ve already had COVID so my antibodies should be good for awhile anyway.
Maybe these nurses know something the general public doesn’t.
Maybe they don’t want to become infertile or something...who knows.
That is the position of Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, Governor Andrew Cuomo, Governor Gavin Newsom, and Louis Farrakhan.
The idea that they’ve been thoroughly tested and are safe and effective is held by President Trump and his administration.

You’re missing the point. This is a virus with 99.97% survivability for a majority of the population. You’re not asking me to inoculate against measles, mumps, rubella, polio, hepatitis, etc. I see no point being injected with something that my immune system can fight off itself and with better results.
This vaccine and the accompanying “documentation” will be used as an anvil of control against the populace. Refuse to take, and you will be forbidden from doing business. I don’t normally subscribe to conspiracy theories, but given the absolute social pandemonium associated with this minor illness and political climate in which we live, the writing, I believe, is on the wall.
Took it. Feel fine. Very mild arm soreness, but I don’t react to other shots either. Second shot will probably hurt a little more.
To each their own. Would never dream of requiring it for others.
Personally, I’m glad to have gotten it and love the initial shot protection we are seeing.
Recommend it to others but make your own decisions. It’s why I’m a Trumper.
IFR is 0.65%, so survivability across the population is 99.35%. R0 is 2.5. HIT is 1-1/R0 or 60%. US population is 330 million. 60% of that is 198 million. 0.65% of 198 million is ~1.3 million dead.
There's a reason President Trump has been pushing this since April. He knew then what the toll would be if nothing was done. So he did the best thing he could do: worked to ensure safe and effective vaccines entered the marketplace ASAP; faster than ever before in history.

Talk with doctors actually dealing with COVID-19 patients. It's not all old and sick people. Young and healthy people - while the exception rather than the rule - are also getting deathly ill from this. And there's ample evidence from the Stanford study to support that your immune system will produce better results on the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines than it will with getting infected with the actual disease.

Okay, then why start now? Conspiracy theories are born when people jump to conclusions, then retroactively construct a house of cards of random bits of information with no context strung together into a tapestry of confirmation bias. They serve no useful purpose. They're a distraction from real issues right in front of us.
6 nurses and 2 doctors in my family, and the resounding assessment is that this is overblown hype. I’m a healthy man in my 40s. I’m not getting the God damned vaccine. Shove your high and mighty attitude up your skirt.

Says the Phase 1, Phase 2, and Phase 3 clinical trials where tens of thousands of closely monitored volunteers are given the vaccines in a series of controlled studies which are regulated and verified by Federal agencies under the direction of President Trump.
These are the Trump vaccines. He’s pushed their development. He’s streamlined the regulators. He’s negotiated to get the manufacturers to produce tens of millions of doses during Phase 3 trials, which no one has ever done before. We should be thanking President Trump and praising his accomplishment; not taking a huge dump on all his hard work.

Cuz the annual flu vaccine only requires one. And if it doesn’t work it’s because the eggheads didn’t choose the right strain/s to include.
Runs counter to the 4 separate pathways for FDA EUA which exist expressly for this purpose. It was President Trump who authorized the activation of those existing processes for these vaccines. Take it up with him.

No it isn't. This is either a total misunderstanding of how the gen 3 (mRNA) platform functions (and I'll be happy to clear up this misconception if that's the case) or conspiracy theory nonsense. In either case, this is completely incorrect. DNA is not altered. DNA cannot be altered by mRNA. That's not how chemistry or biology works. Neither DNA nor RNA has any ability to alter the other.

No thanks, I'll go with President Trump and his administration and the multiple studies with tens of thousands of volunteers, all verified by President Trump's people. I don't want to wait through another 5 years of Democrats shutting down businesses and putting people out of work. I want this over with. The vaccine is the pathway to that. President Trump knew that back in April. That's why he championed this effort.
