We had to make a trip into town (Atlanta, Texas) today, and a half mile from our home, there were eighteen vehicles on our side of the road -- most of them, Texas State Trooper vehicles.
In the tiny community of Huffines, 1,8 miles from home, there was another cluster of vehicles (too many to count) -- including horse trailers and trailer loads of ATVs, as well...
The helicopter was still orbiting our place, as well...
At the major road intersection, two miles from our place, there was roadblock, manned by DPS (TX State Troopers) with another half dozen vehicles:

On our way back, we noticed that the helicopter was no longer orbiting our place, and that the roadblock had been disbanded. We counted 21 TXDPS venicles between the intersection and home...
Told a couple of the troopers were we live -- and they assured it was now safe, because, "We got 'im"...

Focus of East Texas manhunt is dead, DA says
As I had guessed, the Texas Rangers are also involved (BIG deal!). My expectation (based on the massive manhunt) is that the perp fired on LEOs before he escaped into the woods on foot. Thankfully, there has been no hint of injury to any LEO(s).
I'll be following up with my contacts in the Sheriff's office -- mainly to get more info on the "stealthy" aircraft that orbited our house all night...
