The giant goldfish was found in a park in Greenville County, South Carolina as wildlife authorities conducted a fish population survey, a park official said.
A goldfish weighing nine pounds came under the spotlight Monday after being discovered during a fish population survey at a lake in South Carolina, park officials said.
Ty Houck, an official with Greenville County Parks, said the “massive” fish was found swimming on Nov. 16 in a 12-acre body of water in Oak Grove Lake Park in the county of Greenville.
Greenville Rec, which oversees the park where the fish was discovered, posted a photo of the golden spectacle on Facebook on Monday.
“Anyone missing their goldfish? This 9lb goldfish was found in Oak Grove Lake during some recent testing at our lakes,” the organization wrote in a post. “The work included electrofishing, a method of measuring the health of the fish population.”

I tend to agree with you. Notice the 2 barbels on either side of the mouth. Koi have those, goldfish don't.
Goldfish and Koi are carp. Colorful carp, but just carp.
Look, if you are going to post pictures of Nadler, how about giving us some warning!!!!
Old crank phone. Give them a call and they come right to the surface. Or so I’ve been told.
Yep, had Koi for years................
I had that on cassette!..............
“I would be interested to know why they made that decision.”
Sounds like a Democrat tossed it in the lake.
But fun-as-hell when that massive bubble breaks surface, and the smoke column rises. Reminds me of a depth charge. We’ve used M-80s and Cherry Bombs too, but a 1/4 stick is a sight to behold.
Koi have whiskers. That’s a very big regular goldfish.
We have FISH & WILDLIFE OFFICERS ALL OVER THE PLACE HERE..............
IT HAS THOSE...............
Good bass and catfish bait
Do you fry ‘em or bake ‘em?
Add some hushpuppies and you have dinner. :)
I had Koi. The whiskers didn’t look like that. If those are whiskers, perhaps something bit it’s whiskers off.
shouldnt that be Codzilla ???
They are a species related to carp. As kids in the 60’s and 70’s we’d see huge ones in local streams and ponds. In NJ. People dump their pet goldfish and the survivors keep growing.
It looks like a Butterfly Koi, which are generally bigger than a goldfish but smaller than "regular" koi
You can also tell by the long fins (Including tail fin)
