Wast just informed by my boss I will be asked to go home if I don't wear a mask while on premise.
Informed him of my anxiety condition and he said get a doctors note.
Informed him the are I work in is 900 Square feet and I am generally the only person in that office and "the rules" say I am exempt from a mask under those conditions.
"Go tell your king newsom but, that is the way it is" he replied.
"If you have to wear a mask at the grocery store, you can wear one at work" was another answer.
Mthfkr! When I go to a grocery store I am in and out. I don't shop for a full weeks groceries anymore because I cannot have that damn thing on for very long without getting highly anxious.
Regardless, you are imposing a draconian measure where there, even if this whole thing is a fraud, clear rules such as:
If you are interacting with another person and within six (6) feet of each other.
If you cannot maintain a distance of more than six (6) feet you are required to wear a mask.
and On and On
1. I do not work near anyone at all. Colleagues are in another room. My desk is 25-30 feet away from my office door.
2. I do not have to interact with them to even do my job.
3. I can totally do my job out of the office. One wonders why they handed me a laptop and a cell phone.
I completed an order just the other day without coming to the office.
I use cheesecloth for a mask at work... Breathe right through..
Are you an at will hire?
If so, suck it up unless you’ve got another prospect handy.
If you’ve got an employment contract, seek out a conservative lawfirm for advice.
I start to feel lightheaded after breathing through a mask for more than a few minutes at a time. I also have asthma and anxiety issues. Which are normally under control, but not when I’m forced to spend a prolonged period being partially smothered.
Get a doctors note.
Keep a copy.
It isn’t that I can’t wear one.
It’s that I can’t wear it very long.
Hell, last month it was 101 degrees when I was in Los Gatos.
By the time I had walked 1/2 way to my car the mask was soaking wet and breathing was impossible.
Took it off and person kindly asked where my mask was and I showed them it was sopping wet as was I
Open opposition to management is seldom career enhancing.
NO, not a hippa violation. It is required to make a reasonable accommodation under the ADA.
Don’t blame the boss/owner. He is only following state mandates.
We own 3 companies and require the employees to wear mask. Don’t want to get shut down or worse yet an employee comes down with chinese virus and then sues us for drumroll..not requiring employees to wear a mask.
We are screwed either way.
That’s the thing.
I should be able to wear a mask but, if it’s on very long moisture builds up in the mask and CO2 become sequestered making it difficult to breathe.
Again, I can totally do my job remotely. I am in outside sales. There is no real reason to have me in the office.
Meanwhile Publix is being sued for not letting a guy where a mask. At this point mask rules at work are like diversity training, just there to keep from getting sued. And yes it’s actually pretty common for somebody who says they have a medical condition that keeps them from following some corporate rule to get a doctor’s not, that basically puts you under ADA exemption. Again, so they don’t get sued. “We had to let him, he’s got a problem.”
True, though discrimination against the disabled is good for court cases.
It’s a business and it’s private property
If a doctors note is required, get a note from a friendly doctor and show it.
I know it sucks, if it’s not worth losing your income over.
Invoke HIPPA on him.
A banana mask is much better than a bandana mask.
You not being there shows how useless middle management is.
Shitcan them an HR and companies would be better.
That’s not going to happen though. You need to put underperforming minorities somewhere in management too.
I live in N Nevada rural—on over 5 acres.
MY lovely Governor-—SISSY PANTS-—has declared that we all MUST wear a mask at all times—In the house—out of the house—alone -—or with anyone else.
24 hours a day no exceptions.
It is over 70 feet from my mouse to the nearest perimeter fence line.
He cannot enforce this and I will NOT wear a mask by myself inside or outside my own home.
Clear case of Hostile Workplace with that King response. California is extremely friendly to the worker in lawsuits.
Watch the airline scene in Rainman. Then just learn the Dustin Hoffman part there. When they put the mask on you, do what he did. That’s all the proof they should need.

“Have a panic attack at work, and go on disability for 3 months...”
Or that.
