I called Comcast to see if they had an offering that offered ONLY SPORTS.
They don't. I can order OANN without having to pay for bundling anywhere. Why can't I buy sports channels, TCM, no local channels, and no globalist propaganda?
So I cancelled cable. I'm shopping for alternatives, but it doesn't appear that there are any that offer just sports.
Yeah, the leagues are definitely a problem, but eventually they respond to the only vote that seems to matter to them - your dollars.
It's time to cancel something that really needs to be cancelled.
What tipped me over the edge was OANN being available truly ala carte, and LS and Tracy Beanz excellent election analysis on election night. They need to be starved out.
For me, it starts today.
Why would you pay for sports? These pro teams are in on the fix.
They hate you.
We have also cut the concast cable. We only stream and get some local channels with an antenna. We get internet service from the city utilities. There is some pain involved, but we are figuring it out. Plus we are saving $150 a month.
I agree. Turning off FOX is turning off FOX. Lower the network’s ratings to the point where the conservative talent will leave.
The cheapest service I've found and I use is Sling TV, it has some sports channels.
Youtube TV is a good service, just depends on what you want and how much to spend.
Congrats for cutting cable, way overpriced for what you get.
But you still want to watch leftist sports?
Really need to get rid of bundling.
Believe you can go directly to places like MLB.com and subscribe there. Watch via the internet, have your computer project it on your TV if desired.
I gave up sports 20 years ago, however, I did subscribe to MotorTrend.com so I watch European auto racing like Le Mans, British touring cars, German touring cars - it was $2/mo.
You were looking for a la carte programming. No cable or satellite service offers that. The only time I was able to get that kind of programming was when I had a C-Band dish, before TV went digital. The price I paid for a year of programming on the C-Band was less than what I pay per month. You could order channels separately, or in little bundles (like HGTV + Food Channel, etc). I didn't have to pay for what I didn't watch. But I had to get locals with a regular antenna.
I’ve been tempted to use “parental controls” to block channels like FOXNews. I’m sure, as much data as the cable/satellite companies collect from us, that it would have to register that the channel is being blocked by the user. If enough folks did that, it *might* send a message. Who knows...
If you live in one of the 23 local markets, you might want to try https://www.locast.org/
All of your local channels streaming in digital format.
yet another thread were people proudly tell us about their utility bills.
Use ustvgo.tv behind a VPN and you can watch it for free without giving ESPN any money. ESPN is as woke as CNN.
They have an NFL channel, baseball, hockey, basketball and lots of other channels. You just need to log onto their website and subscribe. Some are free, most charge monthly fees.
I’m a tech idiot, are free VPN’s available?
Well... we Tucker at our house. Others, maybe more maybe less unless they sell out like Laura did.
That's not really the point, though. The deal is, they're all on contracts. Contracts that can be ended by either party at any time, probably - except - they're all under a "no-compete clause".
Which means that if they are let go by Fox they can go work for OAN or whomever, but if they leave on their own and then show up somewhere else, they get sued.
So it ain't that simple. If you're like me and you feel edified watching Tucker, you're stuck with seeing him on Fox or no where else at all, at least for the time being.
The kinda good news is you can go ahead and cancel your Comcast service and live stream Tucker thru YouTube TV ($65/mo) and probably other streaming services too.
the cable channels get subscriber fees. They get paid whether you watch or not. You do not even have to turn on your tv. If you send a check they get paid. CNN gets half of its revenue from subscriber fees.
Waiting for Guffman, Corky St. Clair:
So what Im understanding here, correct me, if Im wrong, is that youre not givin me any money. So now Im left basically with nothin. Im left with zero, in which, in which, what can I do with zero, you know? What can I
I cant do anythin with it! I need to, this is my life here were talking about! Were not just talkin about, you know, somethin else. Were talking about my life, you know? And its forcing me to do somethin I dont wanna do. To leave. To, to go out and just leave and go home and say, make a clean cut here and say: No way, Corky, youre not puttin up with these people! And Ill tell you why I cant put up with you people: because youre bastard people! Thats what you are! Youre just bastard people! And Im goin home and Im gonna, Im gonna bite my pillow, is what Im gonna do!
Sports are sports. They aren’t left or right.
Eventually, those leagues respond to market economics. When I cancel cable, I AM changing the economic model. I signed up for MLB. I told MLB that I don’t want politics mixed with my baseball. So did others. Ratings tanked.
Due to the politics and a bunch of other factors, MLB ratings will continue to go down. Same with NFL. The massive, massive overhead these leagues carry, where a single pitcher has a quarter billion dollar contract, will eventually refocus ownership (much sooner rather than later) on what actually matters, which is what fans want.
However, the news sails on forever, subsidized by your cable bill. Not any more. Not going to happen out of my wallet.
