Challenger pulls into double-digit lead over Trump West Long Branch, NJ – Joe Biden holds a 12-point lead over Donald Trump among all registered voters in Pennsylvania and anywhere from an 8-point to 11-point lead among likely voters, according to the Monmouth (“Mon-muth”) University Poll. This marks an improvement from Biden’s single-digit lead in a Monmouth poll just over one month ago. More voters trust the challenger than the incumbent on key issues, such as handling the pandemic. The poll does not find much shift in opinion since the president’s own Covid-19 diagnosis. Other findings show a Democratic advantage in a trio of statewide office races and a tight margin in the generic party preference for Congress.

I think the same poll at the same time in 2016 had Clinton up by 9.
I’m in southeast PA. Seeing more Biden signs than Trump signs, but fewer than for Hillary four years ago.

I am in suburban Pittsburgh.
If you are going strictly by yard signs Biden is ahead by 30 points.
I don’t buy it. Two reasons:
1) Democrat block captains doing a bang-up job of seeing that anybody who is in a union or owes their employment to the government in any way has a Biden sign out front....or else!
2) People are genuinely afraid that putting a Trump sign in the yard will get you firebombed by some ANTIFA whack job.
Trump’s rally here two weeks ago was HUGE. I suspect a VERY big Trump vote here which is largely underground.
So why is slow Joe campaigning in Pa today?

With Pennsylvania and Florida his chances become very good indeed.
We must assume that these adverse polls are accurate and proceed to campaign under that assumption. Trump must win the next two debates, as Bannon just said on air, and dramatically shift the focus and method of the campaign.
Merely citing 2016 to make us feel better about prospects in 2020 might be reassuring but it is no way to campaign for the presidency.
