Frank Lloyd Wright originally proposed The Mile-High Illinois in the 1950s. Innovations in construction materials and elevators are necessary to reach the one mile height and beyond. We may see the first mile-high skyscraper by the middle of the 21st century.
The undefeated champion of the skies right now is the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, which stands at 2,717 feet (roughly half a mile) and is the tallest building in the world.
Although take that with a grain of dusty salt—only 1,916 feet of the Burj Dubai is occupiable space, the rest is vanity height, meaning nearly 800 feet is non-occupiable space. That represents 29 percent of the building's
There are three major construction and stability aspects that must be dealt with if we're to reach a vertical mile. Those are:
Dampening wind sway
Elevator speed and length
Construction materials

And the transit time getting to your floor. Thousands of people all going home about the same time? Impossible.
And most people become uncomfortable if you move them up or down too quickly.
Could take longer to exit the building than the train to the suburbs?

Why would anyone want to?
Build it only on granite and no where near fault lines. It will need an incredibly expensive set of elevators, and many of them.
Just build it around a space elevator.

The elevators are the biggest problem. The longer the cables,the heavier they will be.
It would be built similarly to how they are built now, with elevators stopping every thirty floors for everybody to ride another thirty floors.
“Stairways”?
How about “escape pods”? It might save weight.
Remember Arabs and Chinese, especially after 9/11, have gotten into the whole phallic dick measuring contest with buildings. All in Dubai is not practical or sustainable. But not a peep from Greta.

5433 cubits translated to 8149 feet. Seems impossible.
