In the late 70's there was a war waged by US govt. officials(experts) against the traditional American breakfast(bacon & eggs).

“The World Health Organization (WHO) and other public health authorities actually use eggs as their reference standard for evaluating the protein quality in all other foods. Egg protein is usually referred to as “HBV” protein, meaning protein with High Biological Value. Since eggs are used as the reference standard for food protein, they score 100% on the HBV chart.” http://whfoods.org/genpage.php?tname=foodspice&dbid=92

LOL! “Remember! Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!” Then follows bacon, eggs, milk, caffeine, and sugar as things to avoid. You’re practically down to bran muffins and orange juice for breakfast!

I remember when butter would kill you because “animal fat” and margarine would make you live forever because “made from vegetable oils”.

And I remember when sugar would kill you dead but high fructose syrup would make you live forever because it came from fruit.

You remind me that I need to roast a tray of bacon. I do a half-sheet pan with a parchment sheet in the bottom to catch the grease, then a baking rack with ~10 slices on it. ~25 minutes at 425F for the thick-sliced stuff I buy. 1-3 times a week, with me and my wife.

As a kid 15 years old until I was 18 I worked for Denny’s Restaurant #3 in Long Beach, California. I cooked primarily the rotating, or “relief shift”

Did you ever go to Hof's hut(burgers) in Long Beach at Belmont Shores? Used to go up there from Huntington Beach back in the day.

I remember.

One of the gazillion reasons I don't believe a word they say about anything.

I miss Lewis Grizzard. He spoke the truth with a southern tone.

I told my son as a child, if you can master the egg, you’ll never go hungry

That'swhatI'mtalkin''bout.

I have half a mind to go inside and cook up a whole pan full of bacon right now.

But, the other half of my mind is saying, "Nah. Just go in and grab another beer."

It's a hundred degrees under the shade device right now so it's kind of hard to argue with that kind of wisdom.

Anybody else care for a brewski?

Wasn’t that about the time of “the incredible, edible egg” campaign?

I’m old enough to remember the bran muffin craze. Everybody was eating them. And then running to the toilet a few hours later.

Animals have been eating eggs (other species’ eggs) for aeons, and getting by quite well.
I like them, except they don’t get along with my microwave. :(
