Furthermore, if there were any benefit to wearing a mask, because of the blocking power against droplets and aerosol particles, then there should be more benefit from wearing a respirator (N95) compared to a surgical mask, yet several large meta-analyses, and all the RCT, prove that there is no such relative benefit. Masks and respirators do not work.
In light of the medical research, therefore, it is difficult to understand why public-health authorities are not consistently adamant about this established scientific result, since the distributed psychological, economic and environmental harm from a broad recommendation to wear masks is significant, not to mention the unknown potential harm from concentration and distribution of pathogens on and from used masks.

Yes, they were able to show that cloth masks can "potentially" provide significant protection, but using hybrid materials, and also noting that a significant reduction in effectiveness is seen around the edges of the masks. I'm somewhat skeptical that this is practical for mass populations.
Science only counts when it agrees with the communist agenda.
I saw this behemoth woman in Walmart sneeze like a buffalo, blowing her mask off, leaving it hanging from one ear. Apparently the mask had a cork like affect on on her large mouth. You could feel the concussion.
I know the discomfort wearing a mask. In my case, my glasses fog up and I am putting the wrong product in the cart, only to get the disappointment from my wife for getting the wrong product. The fog on my glasses tells me the mask is not stopping all of the vapor mist. Hopefully that mist is evaporated before the virus is transported its next victim. I think that is happening.
So would you want a surgeon to operate on you without a mask?
The "conclusions" are not mine. They are the conclusions of a significant scientific review conducted by Dr. Denis G Rancourt, PhD, which is fully explained in his article.
He summarizes seven seperate research trials, with links to each trial report.
Specifically he notes that all of these articles indicate masks are NOT effective, and that NO significant trials that show that masks are effective yet exists.
Read the article and see for yourself.
LOL!
You’re a nut.
In my area few wear masks. Those that do have “at risk” house members.
They take care with the masks.
Those that don’t take care of their mask-using are probably people that it doesn’t matter anyway.
Thats not going to go over well with certain FReepers.
I was roundly castigated for saying such just a couple days ago.
My daughter told me when she worked with kids for a while, they used to tell kids *Cough in your cuff, sneeze in your sleeve.*
Maybe because they slice people open?
Great point. Next time I'm in the grocery store and come across somebody whose internal organs are exposed for all to see, I'll don my mask. And my elbow length rubber gloves. And my hair net. And my scrubs which I'll take off at the exit doors.
And in china where people almost universally wear masks? Ill bet they didnt have much disease .... oh wait. Maybe it isnt the masks.
I see, so your answer is to attack?
Post condemning rioters for not wearing masks? Does one need to bother posting that? To post condemning looters who should have just been shot on sight? I went through the LA riots defending a gun shop with a rifle.
The results of those protests are showing up in the massive increases in positive tests in the urban areas (conveniently being blamed on family gatherings...) Or like NYC where they just stopped testing people.
But I’m confused why you’re bringing up the actions of criminals who were rioting. They’re criminals, of course they don’t care about the welfare of others. Just like George Floyd didn’t care for the health of anyone else when he violated quarantine from his release from jail due to COVID-19 exposure to go try to pass a fake $20 bill after doping up on the modern speedball.
Great point. We should demand that all retail outlets wipe down all the shelves and products on the shelves with disinfectant and disinfect the walls and floors between customers.
Even though the image you show of Brazilians all wearing masks from the perspective of a telephoto lens, it does not show people using the 6 foot rule. That kind of crowding would be all it takes. However Brazil was lax in the needed mitigation efforts in the plague’s early phase of growth. A skeptical president with millions refusing to socially isolate themselves, caused the virus to take off.
getting too much of this virus can overload ANY adult immune system.
(individual immune systems results will vary/ past performance is not indicative of future results)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aerosol
An aerosol (abbreviation of "aero-solution") is a suspension of fine solid particles or liquid droplets in air or another gas.[1] Aerosols can be natural or anthropogenic. Examples of natural aerosols are fog, mist, dust, forest exudates and geyser steam. Examples of anthropogenic aerosols are particulate air pollutants and smoke.[dubious discuss][1] The liquid or solid particles have diameters typically less than 1 um
None of the masks can filter out 1 um particles or 1 um liquid droplets.
surgeons use them to keep large body fluid particles out of the surgical field. They cannot take their hands off the sterile field to cover a cough or sneeze. Surgeons also wear the appropriately, discard after each use as intended, and NEVER touch their face once the mask is in place. They also combine the mask with sterile gown and gloves, hair covering and surgical drapes in a meticulously clean environment with everyone wearing hospital laundered scrubs Far cry from the politically correct snot rags worn ill fitting and incorrectly in the grocery store. Even at that there isnt much evidence surgical masks are that effective in the OR except keep
spattered blood/body fluids off the surgeons face
paper masks cannot be washed. moth ones frequently are not - i e seen some beauties in the grocery store
No, Basic Physics says that CO2 will pass totally unhindered through even the finest-mesh masks. Any impairment you experience is due solely to the merely mechanical effect, which causes a slight pressure differential - i.e., it's harder to suck air through a filter.
A mask is, of course, an article of clothing, and thus provides a little warmth (i.e., provides insulation).
