One step of many in a long line of steps to help secure the blessings of liberty for Black Americans.

Juneteenth is the day the Republicans were able to free all the slaves.

And the Democrats never forgave them for it.

Yep, June 19, 1865: More than 2 months after President Abraham Lincoln was asassinated by a demoKKKrat, John Wilkes Booth.

“A common misconception is that Juneteenth marks the end of slavery in the United States. Although this day marks the emancipation of all slaves in the Confederacy, the institution of slavery was still legal and existed in two Union border states after June 19, 1865.

“Slavery in the United States did not officially end until the ratification of the Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States on December 6, 1865, which abolished non-penal slavery in all of the U.S. states and territories”

“When the Thirteenth Amendment became operational, the scope of Lincoln’s 1863 Emancipation Proclamation was widened to include the entire nation. Although the majority of Kentucky’s slaves had been emancipated, 65,000–100,000 people remained to be legally freed when the amendment went into effect on December 18. In Delaware, where a large number of slaves had escaped during the war, nine hundred people became legally free.”

It was common knowledge in Texas since it happened there.

I can see why it wouldn’t be familiar elsewhere.

“I’m not going to apologize for calling the movement Satanic.”

It’s obviously and logically Satanic. This whirlwind of events occurring how it did, and the way it did, could not possibly have been organized by mere mortals.

Never heard of it until they started making a squawk about Trump’s rally.

Actually it lasted in Indian Territory until 1866, when new treaties were entered into with the Indian tribes (who were slaveholders) to abolish slavery. Those tribes fought with the Confederacy during the war, although some like the Cherokee eventually split into slave-owning and abolitionist factions.

Thanks for posting that memorial monument which if read clearly explains what the observance of what Juneteenth is.
When taught about the Lincoln address was never aware of the date it was issued on which was September 22 1862 and declared effective on New Years day 1863 according to the plaque. And the Junettenth, was June 19th That’s when it was announced in Texas

Actually the Juneteenth holiday has always been celebrated here in Texas. I’ve known all about Juneteenth all my life and I’m in my 80’s and that’s a lot of years....

How about an effing thank you from blacks for just ONCE? A thank you to the republican boys who bled and died and were maimed so that bla k future ancestors could riot and hate them and the party that freed them.

Those same violent idiots vandalized an abolitionist monument and want a statue of Lincoln freeing slaves altered.

Because they know nothing of history and they don’t want to. I don’t think the first group of young Nazis cared about which history was real or not.

They want to change history. It is not possible physically to go back in time but you can get rid of statues and put up new ones and alter and outright lie in school textbooks and destroy anyone who says the made-up history is wrong..

Pretty much what’s going on now but on an even more Grand level
