Ford and partner Electrify America have announced they'll provide 250.0 kilowatt-hours of free power for Mustang Mach-E drivers.
The offer is equivalent to three to five fill-ups, depending on the battery pack of the Ford EV.
Ford also announced that its $799 Ford Connected Charge Station wall box is now available from dealers.

Ford continues to ramp up excitement about the upcoming battery-electric Mustang Mach-E, which is set to go on sale later this year. Now it's offering new owners of the EV 250.0 kWh of free charging via Electrify Americas DC fast-charging stations using the FordPass charging network. Not a huge amount of energy when compared to Audis 1000.0 kWh of free charging for the e-tron, but its a nice bonus for those already planning to buy Ford's upcoming halo electric vehicle.
Depending on the version of the Mach-E purchased, the 250.0 kWh can fill the battery from 10 percent to 80 percent five times for the standard-range variant (75.7 kWh) and three times for the version with extended-range battery (98.9 kWh). The free power is only available at Electrify America stations; the VW initiative is one of the partners of the FordPass Charging network. The network consolidates all these charging partners into a single-payment system so Mach-E drivers dont have to subscribe to a plethora of networks. New Mach-E owners also get a free two-year subscription to FordPass's charging feature.
For at-home charging, Ford announced that its Ford Connected Charge Station wall box is now available at dealerships for $799. The automaker said that it should be able to charge a Mach-E overnight. Ford also announced that later this year, Amazon Home Services will install Ford's home charging station or 240-volt outlets in owners' homes.
One of the main opportunities we have is educating our potential customers about road-trip readiness, said Matt Stover, Ford director of charging. "The 250 kilowatt-hours of complimentary charging we're offering . . . will give our Mustang Mach-E customers confidence in their ability to plan trips."

Only Tesla has a charging network approaching full national coverage with chargers pushing power at a rate within one order of magnitude of gas fill ups.
Charging at home is an underrated benefit - rarely have to charge up during the day (vs you ALWAYS have to go to a station for gas). That said, long Tripps need dat chargers, and only Tesla has enough of those.
Yeah, Ford dodged a bullet in the early 90’s when people found out the new Mustang was going to be front wheel drive. The sheet hit the fan. They ended up keeping the Mustang as RWD and badged the front-wheel drive car as the Probe. So how many vintage Probes are you seeing at Barret-Jackson or Mecum Auctions.

Yes. Having an EV plus an SUV is ideal. Did that, worked great.

I will say this in defense of the Mustang II. Due to the gas crisis it was a smart move. The Mustang II was more true to its pony car roots.
The 73 Mustang was nearly Torino size and not even like the 1st generation.

I agree. The 71-73 do not appeal to me very much. They just seem too big. And the loss of the vented cowl making the hood extra long was a styling move I did not like either.
I was in favor of the 74 downsize but an overall loss of interest in high performance and the bogging down of all engines from anti-pollution measures was tough on all performance cars of the 70’s.
We didn’t start to get decent performance vehicles again until the mid 80’s. And it’s gone up since then fairly steadily.

That’s actually true. With one exception. I read a very interesting article a few weeks ago that there was indeed one muscle car through out the 70’s that stayed true to it’s roots. One muscle care that actually increased raw horsepower all the way through.
And that was the 455ci Trans Am.
Even the Corvette had an anemic 185 hp engine in ‘78 and ‘79.
I tried out an electric lawnmower and it was awful. It was way under powered. I returned it to HD. My new Troy Bilt is running great once I started putting mid range octane gasoline into it. 89-90 octane or so. Now it roars and I can cut through anything. Though I avoid wet grass and mow on dry days.
Not on a bet. And I’m a diehard Mustang lover.

First, the $7,500 tax CREDIT is enticing
I own a business, and the write off of the purchase in 1 year with our current tax code is also enticing.
My office is 15 minutes from home, and most of my travel is local. Overnight charging will more than make that up.
Ive been told by the Ford dealership that rather than a lease, they will give me a guaranteed buyback price after 3 years of ownership. That is why I said buy with quotation marks. The 3 year term eliminates my concerns about battery issues.
Taking my write-offs into account my cost of ownership for those 3 years will be down to around $100/m. I spend more than triple that on gas.
This will be vehicle #4 so trips and towing arent concerns.
